Hi Mamas,
I am at a loss.... I would like some guidance concerning Preschool. I have a bright little boy who just turned 3 and we would like to start him in preschool. Where do I begin? Does anyone have suggestions on preschools around the Plainville, wrentham, north attleboro area? what questions should I be asking? I know I sound so clueless but this is my first child and I didn't grow up in this country so I really don't know how the education system works. Any suggestions, advice or guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

HI A.,

My kids go to Animal Crackers, in North Attleboro, and I really can't say enough about the school. My three daughters have had wonderful experiences there, and we still have many more years to look forward to there! The staff is so caring, and the director is a professor of early childhood education at Simmons College, so the curriculum is very developmentally appropriate. There is a wonderful family-feel to the school, and so many "extras"...an amazing, semi-formal lunceon for the mothers each December...bowling with Dad day...family concert with Toe Jam Puppet Band...Bring someone you love to school day...the list goes on and on. I know there are lots of great preschools in thearea, but we have been so happy with Animal Crackers and I can't say enough about it!! They are starting to make waiting lists right now, so you should go in as soon as possible to tour the school and fill out forms with your day/time preferences. Good luck with your search!

Hi A.,
We were in the same situation with our son when he turned 3. He was ready for more socialization and some structured activities. We enrolled him in Inch By Inch and absolutely love it. He's in the MWF program now and having a blast. I highly recommend looking into the 3 year old program for your son. He got so much individual attention and has really enjoyed his time there. They have a full gym to use every day so there is time for both gross motor and fine motor skills, even in the cold winter months.

The area also holds a preschool function at the North Attleboro High School where schools from the Attleboros, Mansfield, Plainville and surrounding areas all come together so you can meet the teachers and learn more about each program. We also attended that to get a better feel of what was available in our area.

Good luck with your search.

K.

Hi A.,

I sent my daughter to the Hockomock YMCA Children's Center in North Attleboro when she was three. They have a wonderful program there. All the teachers are great, and the kids get involved in a lot of different activities. They do field trips with the kids and bring the kids over to the YMCA (main building) for swimming lessons. In the past they have also done gymnastics. I loved the Center so much that I decided that I would love to work with such a wonderful group of people. I was an aide there a couple years ago. Since then I have had another child and am on leave. I will be returning as a teacher (I got my certification!) when my son turns three. I really can't say enough about the program--it's wonderful. If you are interested in enrolling your child you can contact Rae Montgomery at ###-###-#### X242. She can give you more information. Good luck!

I don't know whether they have openings or not, but the daycare I send my kids to has a fabulous preschool program. My son went through it and is now in their kindergarten program and my daughter is currently in the preschool program. They are located on Elm Street in North Attleboro and the name is Scribbletime. Feel free to email me at ____@____.com if you want more information!
