Good Morning, Yesterday my almost three year old, was left alone in his room for no about ten minutes playing with foam blocks while i went to the ladies room. When i came back, he had coverded his TV, dresser drawer and his bedspread in poop. THEN he went to go wash his hands to what im thinking , "hide the evidence"..
this is my first child and i dotn know if this has happned to someone else?

*Please dont send me messages about leaving kid alone, MY 22 year old sister was folding clothes in a nook that is about 3 ft from his door. Thanks.

What can I do next?

While personally never had the pleasure, I have heard from many friends and co workers (parents of girls and boys) who have dealt with the poop smear issue. One gal's daughter would do it when she woke up from her nap! After two times of complete nursery room disenfecting, she was quicker on the monitor - LOL.
While totally gross, it is normal. Is he potty training? It could also be that he is exploring what is typically going into the potty? Just a thought. Kids are pretty inquisitive.
So sorry for you having to clean this up. . .

I've heard that it's happened to a lot of people.
As for leaving him alone...he's almost 3. It's ok to leave him in a room while you use the restroom. I mean, he's three, not 1. So, don't feel guilty about it. My 3 year old has a toy room that she plays in by herself all the time.

My friend's Mother's Day gift from her 2.5 year old daughter was a poop-smeared room. Yum. He probably was thinking more about how icky he was than hiding the evidence. ^_^

If he is not in the process of potty training i would say start. Make it fun and if he does that again at almost 3 i would have him help wipe it up a bit. My son is almost 3 and is poop trained and working on the pee part. As far as leaving him alone... he is almost 3. He is just fine to be left alone to play. My son plays in his room by himself often and even downstairs. As long as i can hear him i dont worry. It is good for them to learn some independance. You are doing nothing wrong. It happens to most everyone.

Oh my goodness my son did this several times...usually after a nap but before I realized he was awake.

I finally had to put him in a onesie, with overalls for nap time everyday.

To them it is a neat playdough-like substance that is neat to feel and play with. They don't know it is gross.

It is normal, don't worry!

What a budding artist you have! I woke up from a shared nap with my 3 yr old once to find her covered in my lipstick. It must be fun to smear stuff. Kids are hilarious little mess makers. Watch him for a while though. If he ingested any feces, he could be in danger of hepatitis. Symptoms are stomach trouble (vomiting, diareha) lethargy, yellowing eyes.
