*Party Invitations*

I am planning my daughters 1st birthday. Is it ok if I use regular invitations, they have no cartoons or babies or mentions of 1st, just regular flower invitations. Also is it ok to put new pictures of my daughter in the invitations? Am I expected to invite people I work with and the lady who does daycare?

What can I do next?

My son will be 3 in September and I have always ordered mine from www.shutterfly.com. You can make your own and use your own pictures. They are pretty reasonable in price and I've gotten a lot of compliments on them.

Hi, I personally only had my family and close friends at both of my children's 1st birthday. It's really just who you want there. We, as mothers, are more excited about the big day then the babies LOL. But, just don't feel obligated to invite anybody you don't want to.
Have a great time!!

Hi.. I think its a wonderful Idea to put pictures on a child's invitations.. No one in their right mind wouldn't want to see the sweetie.. I do my own invitations on the computer and they turn out really cute.. I do them in a postcard style and then put magnets on the back people can just throw them right on their fridge! People seem to love it! I do them for a lot of friends and family too. I'd love to do one for you, no problem..its just a hobby for me.. If you're interested email me at ____@____.com and I'll send you a couple pictures of ones I've done..Then if you want me to do one for you.. You could send me the picture(s) of her that you want on the card and then I'll create something based on your/her likes, or theme, color scheme, or whatever... and I can email it to you (free of course) and you can have them printed. Or I would be glad to print for you and mail, but it would be a small fee then for supplies (: Good Luck in whatever you choose to do.. I'm sure it will turn out great (:

Hi Linday!
Congratualtions on your daughter turning 1, my daughter turned 1 last month :) I'm into scrapbooking and stamping so I made her invites. But flower invites are fine for sure!! You could always write something on the inside or on the back of your daughters photo.
And no you are NOT obligated to invite anyone from work or the daycare. Unless of course you and your family are close to them outside of the work and/or daycare setting.
Have fun planning!

Hi L.~
You should use whatever you think is cute. There are no 'rights' or 'wrongs'. Plan the party that you want your daughter to have and everyone will have a blast celebrating with her. Fun thing about having kids...its the time to be creative and explore everything you overlooked before you were a mommy. Throw out all the rules and regulations and have a fun birthday party...however you see fit!
Happy Birthday to Alexia!!

L.,
There are no specific rules for your child's first b-day other than being memorable and special for you,Alexia and your family.(That's true of all b-days!) Pictures included in the invites are a great idea but I would save them for close friends and relatives who will really appreciate them. Alexia being so little will not remember or care who or what is at the party. As long as she is getting attention from the people she knows, has good cake (some bakeries will make a small special cake for the b-day girl for free if you order a larger one for the rest of the guests) to eat and toys to play with. We all want to go over board and have the best intentions of everything being perfect from the invites, decor, food ect.. I can tell you from expereince decorations are a waste and kids no matter what age, don't care. Invites don't matter so much until they're older and a theme may be involved. Guests really should be limited to people who are close family and friends or any one you and your daughter have a special bond with. Another cake idea (it's sooo fun to watch them dig into their cake for the first time) is to make a large one for the adults and cupcakes for the little ones especially the b-day girl. This way she can attack her own cake her own way and there is much less mess and all is happy. Make sure you assign some one to snap pictures through out the event, that will be one less thing you have to juggle. It also helps to assign some one to write down the gifts and who they are from. Have your hubby pass out the thank you note envelopes to each guest and make sure they fill out their name and address. Put them in a basket and draw names for a door prize or prizes. What ever notes you choose are fine, people just appreciate being appreciated! I hope some of my tips help you out and the party is a success! Try not to stress and just have fun!

Sincerely,
R.
