Have any of you moms used this? What were your results? I have three more weeks before I can start working out again (c-section three weeks ago). I'm either going back to the gym or am going to order this and wanted to know what other moms thoughts are on it.

What can I do next?

HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!! It's an awesome workout... Don't get tricked into buying all the stuff they tell you that you need though (IE recovery drinks, bars, etc)..
I did it for 10 weeks and then I got sick so I haven't started back up again (I've been sick for almost 2 months).. I've always been a workout person and I actually put my gym membership on hold to do the p90x.. It's a different kind of workout..
You have to be disciplined though!!! Sometimes I had to push myself to do the video because at times I was getting bored working out from home. The results were a lot more dramatic from the p90 then just going to the gym...
WORTH THE MONEY!!!!!
Good luck!!!! It's a hardddd workout but well worth it!

Love, love LOVE it, but like anything else, you have to be disciplined. The first week you will be more sore than you have ever been but keep going...you will LOVE the results and the way you feel after doing it will keep you motivated to continue. Check Craigslist before ordering though. I bought mine, brand new, in the shrink wrap for half of what the infomercial advertises...and there were SEVERAL out there.

If you're just starting out after having a c-section, I recommend doing the original Power 90. It's fantastic itself and gives great results as well although not as immediate & harsh as P90X...the X being for 'extreme'. P90X is awesome, but you have to be totally dedicated to get the results you want in the time you want them.

My husband does P90x so I've know the program well. he loves it. I like it but the workouts are at least an hour then Tony wants you to do the 20 minute ab blaster afterwards. My husband has seen great results from it. I do crossfit which is very similar but shorter. It has the same intensity. I go to a local crossfit gym which are usually very small and often in people's garages. I take my daughter with me and now that she is walking she just wanders around while I workout or hangs out in her stroller or the baby playpin. I don't have to worry about her getting sick from being in a gym kid's club. The other great thing about it you have a certified trainer guiding you through the workout...less chance of injury. They will alter and modify everything for you. You will see your body whip right back into shape.

I started running and eating healthy 8 weeks post baby. I was 5'2 130lbs at 8 weeks which was my pre pregnancy weight but my clothes didn't fit the same and I still looked fat in my face. By 12 weeks post I lost 8lbs on my own by running 3 miles 4-5 times a week and eating healthy. I couldn't run the entire 3 miles when I first started but I just kept trying to make my finish time faster each day. So by 12 weeks I could run the whole 3 miles and was at a standstill and holding steady at 120lbs and looking pretty good. That is when I started crossfit. That toned and shaped my body and I dropped down to 115- 117lbs. A year later....super happy and I feel great. Good luck

I haven't done it, but my friend did and she did see visible results. She loves it. She's now doing the Insanity DVDs, which is harder than P90x. She wasn't "ripped" like they are in the commercials, but you could definitely see definition in her arms and legs and the beginnings of a 6 pack.

It works, but it is tough, several people have told me so, both men and women. If you're very much out of shape, you probably will find it brutal and give up quickly, as that happened to my co-worker. She only did 20 minutes and has never attempted it again. My male friend did the entire program though. He used to be a chubby guy, now he looks like one of those guys in the fitness magazines -- totally ripped.

This will give you muscles so caution, if you're already broad and big-boned, and an apple shape, this may make you look bulkier in the arms and shoulders. The same will happen if you have high levels of testosterone. I have both issues, so I am only able to lift very light weights, or I will start looking like a man, so I wanted to give you a heads-up in case you have the same problem that I do.

You will need to buy some equipment, such as a set of weights and/or a pull-up device that goes over your door. I recommend you watch sample videos on youtube before deciding if it is right for you.

I tried it. I think it's much better for building muscle than losing weight. If you really want to shed pounds FAST try Insanity. It's from the same company that distributes P90x, but is the most intense workout imaginable. Pure cardio. You will see results in no time.

One thing - since it is so intense, I don't recommend jumping right into it. Get into somewhat decent shape first.

my husband and i started the p90x a few weeks ago together...i love it.. I've had 3 c sections and am already down 6 lbs....of course it is definitely harder trying to flatten out the tummy.....i wouldn't recommend doing the ab ripper at all for the first few months after a c section....i had my last baby 2 yrs ago and my c section area became very sore after the ab ripper...but ask your doctor what is best for you.

You will love it...or hate it! I have this program and I LOVE IT. Got great results and I never even followed the diet plan. I just did the DVD's, and yes, it is a 6 days a week program...but you can customize it to fit your needs but your results will come slower if you do not work out 6 days a week. I am currently pregnant with my 4th baby so I had to stop working out ~ the exhaustion and nausea just will not allow me to work out and I am totally bummed BUT when I get the okay to exercise again (having a scheduled c-section) I will go back to my P90 X. I want my body back and I KNOW this program works! My sister ordered her P90X from Ebay. She and I believe that her DVD's are not "original" because of the quality. I bought mine directly from the Beachbody web site and I got a lot of extras: the chin up bar, the resistance bands, to name a few! I love this program and would never waste my money on going to a gym when I can get fantastic results in the privacy of my house. It's worth the money!

People have said it's a very intense program. It is .....if you have never ever exercised like this before. I purchased the P90 Master series before the P90X and in comparison to the two programs, the P90X is longer. Each workout is just under an hour, from warm up to cool down. The ONLY workout that is 1 hour and 30 minutes is the Yoga X. I always did my Yoga at night, after my children went to bed. I found it to be very relaxing and night time worked best for this particular work out. You can modify your workouts, you can work out to your own pace. YOU WILL lose weight while getting incredibly toned. I am 5 ft 4 1/2 inches tall and my normal weight is anywhere between 106-109 lbs. After my second round with the P90X, I got down to 105 lbs and my body was toned in the most beautiful way. I'm not talking about bulging muscle. No, I mean, muscle definition where it counts ~ legs, arms, shoulders, abs. If you know someone who has the program, borrow it! It is a costly investment to waste if you decide it's not for you.

Someone mentioned the Insanity program. I have seen the infomercials and I have a good friend who has it and incorporates the Insanity with the P90X. She described the P90X as a "cake walk" compared to the Insanity. Insanity is insane, and not for someone who is NOT used to exercising like that.

Debbie Siebers, the Slim Series (Slim in 6) is fairly intense. I have those DVD's as well. Debbie is very high on cardio with resistance (bands and weights) but her DVD's are long, much longer than the P90X. Whatever you decide on, commit to it and do not allow yourself to be discouraged. You can get great results from the comfort and privacy of your house. Good luck.

I bought just the ab workout piece - used from Amazon. It is great, but it is a workout designed for athletes, not for starting out getting in shape. I would use other workouts for starting out. Jumping into this too quickly will leave your muscles SO sore.

I started in a beginning Pilates class, then intermediate, then advanced. Pilates did wonders for my abs after baby (and I was 41). The P90x abs workout is very similar to the Pilates class I was in (not all are that intense) at the intermediate (if you take breaks)/advanced level.

Hi E.,

I am a fitness instructor and I recommend P90X only if you have worked out before and you know proper form so as not to injure yourself.
If you are interested, I train moms like you at parks with their baby so you don't need to get a baby-sitter. At your own pace, on your terms.

Congratulations on your new baby and all the best. =)

Like others have said, P90X may be a tough step up to working out, unless you were working out prior to having the baby and doing some fitness regimen during your pregnancy. I would recommend Pilates or Yoga just for basic muscle memory exercises. Your joints and over all body is still healing and moving around (pregnancy kind of stretches everything out). Doing too much too soon (which is this program) could cause injury and totally put you out of commission. If you're looking for a more aerobic exercise, try Cathe's (www.cathe.com) programs, which vary in intensity based on what you need or TheFirm program (www.thefirmdirect.com) which is more beginner or intermediate.

You may want to check with your doc before starting. It's very intense exercise and requires a 6 day wk/ 1-1.5 hr day commitment. Didn't work that well for me but I ended it early due to an injury (unrelated to P90X); have heard other people say you tone up more than lose weight.
