I'm always looking for new ideas on how everyone keeps their home organized. It seems like with my two little boys (25mths and 13 mths) I am ALWAYS cleaning and trying to get organized. Ok, I should be honest. No, I'm not a neat freak or anywhere close. I spend most of my day playing with my kids, cooking, running errands and of course cleaning. Do you have some tips, tricks or ideas that helped keep your house, life, day organized? I think we could all use some (me, if no one else!) ha! Thanks in advance! :)

What can I do next?

Put it away when you're done with it is the biggest thing I've heard and I TRY to do that but it doesn't always happen. Get everyone involved - that's a must - but easier than it sounds (LOL)! Flylady.net is a good resource. And I hired a Professional Organizer to help with my home office. Well worth it! www.GetOrganized.ws - Lorraine Brock. Tell her Trish sent you if you end up going that direction :)

C.,
I am a full-time working mom so I have little time to clean house and spend time with my family. What I have done is take each room at a time. I clean out all toys, clothes, and anything that I don't need, want, or that we have outgrown. I give away the nice stuff or have a garage sale. The trash goes in the trash and if it is seasonal, I put it in rubbermaid tubs that go in the attic. I also have long boxes under the beds for storage.

Next, I make sure that each room is clutter free. For example, my children's play room has stations and all the toys go in the right bucket or container. I tell my girls that we should be able to pick everything up and have it in it's house by the end of 10 minutes. We clean out the toys twice a year. Once in the summer and again right before Christmas.

Don't stress yourself out but just do it a little at a time. You have to make it work for you and your family. Good luck with two little ones at home. Enjoy them because time goes by fast.

Clean up toys twice a day- at nap time and bed time. Put a container of some sort in your living room to put toys in when they are done playing in there, so you don't have to return them to their room everytime you clean up. When it gets full, pick it up and return toys to where they go. Practice cleaning up with your kids, so they will learn how to do it themselves-good luck with that one!!! If you have a spare bedroom use it as a play room. I don't know how I would manage without mine. We don't have a guest room, but at least I have a place for my kids to be messy and I can just close the door.

Hey C.,

I am professional organizer and mom. The best thing I tell my clients is: If you want to be organized you have to be able to manage your time well firt. Do you have a time management tool?
