We just got one last weekend and we LOVE it! We got the Classic King one - pretty much the bottom of the line - it's firm, but we like that. Good luck!!
Howdy! My husband and I NEED a new bed. Are the Tempur-pedic beds worth the money? If so...where did you get it? Thanks in advance for the advice!
Thanks for all the input! We got a bed this weekend and just have to see how things go. We were told to give it 30-90 days to decide if we really like the bed or not...so we are going to try it out! Thanks again ladies - you are all wonderful!

I know you asked about Tempur-pedic, but I have to say, we've had our Sleep Number bed for years and we love it! It's so comfortable, and since my husband likes his bed soft and I like it firm, we're both happy.

Hi A. -
We have had TP's for 5 years and my husband and I LOVE them.
I decided to buy them for the children as well, because good sleep is so important. I did buy an "off brand" for the children, at Beds, Beds, Beds on Burnet Road in Austin. I think i paid about $600 each for the 5 queens I bought - but that was a couple years ago. Super Happy with them. Would do it again in a sec.
Hi,
We have the similar, less expensive one made by Sealy. I think it is called posture-pedic? anyway, we really do love it, it's defintely worth the money. We got it at the Mattress Firm. They have sales every now and then. good luck!
Get a super firm mattress that is flat (for pretty inexpensive) and buy the tempur pedic foam topper. Another place you can go to buy it is www.healco.com. Look for the same amount of density in the tempur-pedic as in other products. We bought from healco, and LOVE it!!!
We bought a tempur-pedic bed a couple of years ago and love it. I have to say that it took me a couple of weeks to get used to. My husband was in heaven from day one. He has back problems and prefers a harder matress. I have always liked beds that were soft and cushy. The tempur-pedic isn't really soft and cushy feeling, but it does have a way of absorbing your body weight and positioning it just right. I have heard there are some good generics out there, but we just got the real thing. I think we got it at Mattress Firm. We could compare the tempur-pedic with the sleep number there. They also had free same day delivery.
Hi A., I have a Serta sleeper with a pillow top ( that is made out of Tempur pedic material) attached. I bought the bed at Factory Mattress Outlet about 5 years ago. I love the bed and so does my husband. I choose to get this bed because getting the Tempur pedic brand was 4-5 thousand dollars more. I would also recommend the Scotch guard if you have children it also keeps the bed looking like new.
I slept on one during our vacation, and I have to say, it wasn't all it's cracked up to be!! I like the sleep number MUCH better. They both run about the same, the tempurpedic felt like I was sleeping on a piece of foam you could by from a camping store. It just wasn't very comfy!!
Just my 2 cents!!

A.,
We LOVE our Tempur Pedic mattress! At first it was a little too firm for me. But, now it is Heaven. When you first get it you have to walk on it (which is also fun for the kids) and overtime it will start to "soften" from your body heat.
This summer while on vacation the condo we were in had a generic version of the Tempur Pedic and it did not even compare. It was not the same quality at all.
I can't remember the name of the store where we bought ours, but it is off 183 in the same center as Babies R Us (or close to it).
Happy Mattress Shopping!
IF you're going to spend that kind of money, I would definitely go with the sleep number bed. I've priced them, though, and they are not cheap!
My sister has a sleep number bed, and it's like you've died and gone to heaven.
The advice about getting a regular bed and putting a very thick (3') foam-type topping on it sounds like it might work, but I've tried that before and the topper always starts moving and sliding. Plus it's hard to find sheets that will go over both the bed and the topper (even if you buy a sheet set that is one size up).
Hi A.,
I just wanted to let you know that my husband and I just bought a regular, queen Serta from Sams (inexpensive for a bed), then bought a really nice tempur-pedic type foam topper. Let me just say, it's like heaven. I love it and it was only a fraction of the coast unlike most beds of its kind. My in-laws ended up spending a heck of a lot more and I was not impressed at all by the comfort, support, feel of theirs. Our foam topper is like 3", so make sure you get one that is this thickness if not more.
Good Luck!
