I work on a room per day, and the bathrooms on one day. This way I don't get overwhelmed by trying to do it all at once. I also make sure the dishes are done every night, because a clean sink makes the kitchen look ten times cleaner.
Hey moms,
Does anyone know of a good system of organization to help you keep your home clean. I know it sounds strange, but I really have trouble keeping up with my housework and I really like my house to be clean. I am a homemaker and take great peace in a nice clean home. My husband and I are on Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover and having great success with it and we are also working out and eating on a little system and losing weight, so I know I can do a system once I commit to it. Someone was telling me about something like fly.com but I looked that up and I obviously remember it wrong. Or if some of you moms out there are just really great at keeping up with the house and have any tips, I would really welcome them. I clean really good and then before I know it, it is just a wreck around here again. I think I just need some direction. I have a lovely home and hate to see it in shambles all the time unless we are having company or it is a holiday! Thanks ladies!

It is www.Flylady.com It is really cool- I just have a hard time with "systems" But this one is really good- she has a "home blessing hour" and then helps you with keeping the home decluttered and clean.
HTH!
I work so I break everything down through the week so on the weekends I don't spend it cleaning. Do something like dust on one day and vacuum on another and clean the bathroom on another and of course the kitchen everyday but of course pick another day to do the heavy kithcen cleaning like the fridge. oven ect. Works for me then I'm not spending the whole weekend cleaning. Of course I'm going to check out that website a few people suggested to you.
I calendar my cleaning. I break everything down so that I really only do 1 room a day and I have which room is due for a cleaning on the kitchen calendar. I get it done while the boys are taking their nap, and I usually have time left over for a little break myself. I also designate - I'm allergic to dust so hubby gets to do that once a week before our evening workout. He's also responsible for his own laundry since I handle the rest of it (we have 18 month old twins). As soon as the boys go to bed, we put their toys back in their bins. Mail gets sorted as soon as it comes in the house. Bills go in their own box, magazines go in the rack and flyers and occupant mail gets shredded or recycled.
1. Teach the baby that all toys belong in his room. If something comes out, it must be put away when finished. Yes, 18 month olds can be taught.
2. Before going to bed take a quick look around the kitchen and den and put away anything out of place. It won't take over 5-10 minutes.
3. Put all dirty clothes in the hamper as soon as they come off then they won't pile up.
4. Wash one load a clothes at a time and fold and put away as soon as they come out of the dryer. This may mean that you do a load of laundry each night or every other night, but that's better than doing it all at once and having it pile up.
5. Use a Swifter for dusting. It doesn't wax but it does quickly remove dust. You can get out the can of Pledge once every week or so to get the shine back.
6. Clean the bathroom first thing Monday morning than just spot clean during the week. I keep a small mop in each bathroom for a quick mop-up. Sanitary wipes are great for keeping the bathroom clean. You can even go in and give it a quick once-over when company unexpectedly shows up.
7.Don't let dishes pile up in the sink. Empty the dishwasher first thing in the mmorning and as things get dirty, rinse and place in the "dirty dish holder" as some poeple call the dish washer.
8. Clean as you cook. It is possible to have no dirty pots sitting on the stove when you sit down to eat. A quick scrub in the sink and it's done and the food hasn't had time to get cold.
Good Luck.
I, too, am a sahm with a rain wreck for a home. Each day of the week, I have guidelines and I hope to accomplish those weekly. If I don't, I don't it will still be there waiting for me to get done. I am crazy about the house being clean but it always looked lived in. for me, our house it too big and as long as there is anyone but me living in it, it will be a mess. But the house underneath is clean. ;0) I hear ya but try and not sweat the small stuff, life is too short!!
