Need to Find a Monitor That Scans Three Rooms

I have a monitor that scans three rooms. It spends about 10 or 15 seconds on each room and then moves on. I can monitor just one room or scan all three. I have used the one I have for the last three years and it is starting to make all kinds of noise. I think I need a new one. I'm due in May with child number three and I would like a new monitor. I can't hear my children in their rooms because of the distance from my room and I'm paranoid...I have to hear them. Has anyone seen a monitor that scans three rooms. I've searched for one but can't find any.

I read your posting because I am also seeking a monitor, but for 2 rooms. I just had to post in support of you when I read Luanne's post! I am not one to start arguments on a board, but I really think she is wrong. I have a duplex down and I cannot tell you the number of nights my monitor has helped me to attend to my child's illnesses. I want to know if my kid is vomiting in her crib and I cannot hear her from my bedroom upstairs. Anyway, only you know if you need a monitor, and don't feel badly about using one for even one moment!

The Summer INfant dual scanning video monitor is equipped to scan 2 rooms with the option of purchasing a third camera to monitor up to 3 rooms. I love my monitor but I will say that many times there can be static and when I move the monitor sometimes I have to readjust it a few times to be certain it is picking up the rooms well. I really love it but I am a visual type person, so if there is static and not sound all the time that doesn't bother me. Also it runs on 2.4Ghz so if you have cordless phones they must be on a 5.8 Ghz or something other than 2.4

You can check it out at http://www.summerinfant.com/videomonitors.htm

I had to order mine and have it delivered, it was hard to find this model in stores. Check it out though, there are alot of mixed reviews...but like I said I love mine.
good luck

I am not much help, but I too recommend changing the channel your monitor is set to. Also, if it's making noise, it could just be interference. Try not to leave cell phones near it, or place it close to any electronic appliances, etc. Whenever my cell phone is near my computer (and is going to ring) it sets off the plug in speakers on my computer. Very annoying.
However, if it really is going bad, search ebay, or maybe try an intercom system. There are expandable intercom systems that plug into the wall, or you can go through the expense of having a whole house intercom installed. Ours plugs in, and you can lock it to stay on, or you can press a button to talk, from whichever room. So, ideally, you'd leave it locked on in the kids rooms so you always hear it.
Hope you find peace of mind.

I have a Safety 1st 3-receive sound monitor. On occasion we'll have more static than other days. We just have to tinker with it and move it around and it helps. But there isn't a pattern. You might also try switching the channels that they are all on. Unfortunately, I don't see what I purchased anymore or any 3-room scanners which is unfortunate. I did find mine for sale on craigslist...http://syracuse.craigslist.org/bab/545929323.html
so maybe you can find it used? Good luck and congrats.

I am not sure if this is what you are looking for, but Costco has this high-end surveillance equippment which is all digital, comes with (I think) 4 cameras, all remote, and they all link up to a monitor that can show all cameras at once or zoom into each as needed.

I believe this goes for around $1,500 for all.

I just wanted to say two things 1) I didn't even know there was a three room monitor. I wish I had because it would be a godsend. What brand is your original one? and 2) We are all God's children but GOD GAVE YOUR CHILDREN TO YOU so do you do what you think is best for them and your family. Peace out.

Mel had some great points -

I could not find a multi room one when we had our youngest - so I used a duo monitor set - with two intercoms and two receiving units - they worked great - UNTIL we moved. They get to much interference here to use them. Just an option. Good Luck.

Now, SAHM of six ages 22 - 5.

No, you do not need to hear them. It sounds to me like you have an anxiety or control problem, and with three kids, the sooner you leave this excess baggage behind, the happier you'll be. Take care of them, then trust your care! You're a good mother, it sounds like, so don't worry. You will not do them or yourself any favors by stressing out over every little unusual noise. I don't think monitors are a good idea at all for that reason, and also because letting you know they're up is one of babies' important tools in developing communication. With a monitor you can hear them starting to wake up so you stop being relaxed long before you actually have to pick them up.

The letting go part of parenting starts really young. They are not yours; they are on loan to you from God or the Universe or whatever higher authority you answer to. But they are separate people, never forget that. Starting now, you will not know what they are doing every minute of every day. Your job is not to control them; it's to equip them to control themselves and deal with whatever life hands them.
