Need Recommendations on DOUBLE Strollers

With a toddler and a baby on the way, I am looking for a double stroller of some sort that will fit my Graco infant seat. I would love some advice from moms who have used the sit-n-stand variety and/or the standard double seat stroller. I have been looking at the Baby Trend Sit-n-Stand, Graco DuoGlider, and Graco Quattro Tour Duo, but am open to other suggestions. I DO NOT, however, want to spend a ton of money on it since it will be used only occasionally.
What are the pros and cons of the different types? Is there a particular brand I should avoid? I'd love to hear personal experiences, good or bad, especially if you have used both kinds and can compare.
Thanks!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

THANK YOU all for the fantastic recommendations!!! This is the best response I've gotten on mamasoursce so far.
I bought a Quattro Tour Duo from Albee Baby online. They had the best price for the pattern I wanted (I had to get one to match the infant seat I already have). Thanks again!!!

We used the Graco Quatro Tour since we wanted something to fit the Graco car seat we had. In general, the system was good - I was used to our Travel System (and loved it) so I was a little disappointed and not prepared. Considering you are now pushing two children - you are pushing more (something I had not considered). We used our double stroller not as much since it was alot for me to push (I am not strong) and the opportunities did not present themself.

It was fairly easy to operate and manuever esp. with the Graco car seat.

A cousin of mine had the same Graco double stroller and LOVED it! She used it far more than I did.

We found it inexpensively $100 at Wal-Mart).

One note: many aisles and such are not equipped for the double stroller that is side by side - I would recommend the forward-back set-up.

Good luck!

Hi C.,

Congrats on another baby. Here is my review of the Graco Quattro Tour double stroller:

It handles REALLY well. Folds up easier than my Graco single. I like the storage, etc. I can find only one negative and that is that it is a beast!! Meaning, it is heavy!! I have found a way to lift into my Honda Pilot without breaking my back, but it really is heavier than most double strollers, I believe.

We have the Graco DuoGlider. Our boys are 13 months apart. I do like it, but have found that it is quite cumbersome when it comes to getting it in the car. We have an SUV, so I don't collapse it; simply hoist the thing in without folding it. It barely fits that way in the back of a '09 Pilot. As our second child has special needs, we are in the process of trying to qualify for a double wheelchair/stroller to accommodate. One positive thing - the Graco DuoGlider is not a side by side model, so it is easy to get through doorways, etc. It works with all Graco car seats too – old and new, plus it was around $150 - not bad. Good luck!

Hi, I'm responding to your stroller question and my kids are 25 months apart. I got the Quattro Tour and the Sit n Stand and have used them both. I use the Quattro more on longer outings when the kids will need to nap and the other for shorter journies. My oldest is now 4 and the youngest is 2 and my oldest is getting big for it. She fits but her legs are getting kind of long. The oldest does well with the Sit n Stand because she's well behaved and doesn't jump out and in etc. I wish she could see forward facing but she doesn't seem to mind. If you want to use something longer I'd suggest the Sit n Stand but I don't know if it'll hold a Graco infant seat.

If I had it to do all over again, the only one thing I would do differently is to have a sit-n-stand stroller as opposed to the double. I really wanted the former and couldn't find it locally so gave up and got a double. My then 2 and half year old was big for his age and the stroller did not hold up well at all (it was a reputable and expensive brand). The sit n stand option grows with you SO much longer. It completely takes care of that in between stage of your oldest being too big for a stroller, but too small to keep up if you're walking any distance at all.

I don't have a recommendation on a stroller, but I just want to tell you to make sure it fits in your car before you buy it! We did that and it didn't fit in either car so we had to return it.

My kids are 25 months apart and I opted for the Quattro Tour Double stroller. Fits the infant seat and i put that in the back so my 2 year old (now 3) can see. It doesn't have a tray in front, just two drink/snack holders. Makes it nice so he can get in and out without much assistance. It also has an enormous storage space underneath, a big plus.

The stroller is heavy but all doubles are. It steers beautifully and I can actually drive it one handed! Glad I didn't go with the sit and stand as my son likes to see and does sometimes get tired and just wants to relax and cruise for the ride. We don't use it often but I'm glad we made the investement. We do use it on neighborhood walks too - again, my son likes to walk and run along but evenutally gets tired and likes to ride but to be able to see all the people and puppies we pass.

I did order it online and found free shipping which is nice when it's such a big heavy box - right to your front door.

Well, I'm no expert by any means but I did just look into the same question (very extensively myself). After MUCH research, I decided on the Graco Quattro Duo. It actually just arrived on my doorstep last evening, and I haven't even opened the box yet.

After my search, I decided on either the Graco Quattro Duo or the One Step Ahead double elite/sit and stand. I loved that the One Step Ahead could be either a double stroller or you could remove the back seat and it could become a sit and stand. I thought that would be the answer to all of our problems, but in the end, I changed my mind. Here's what I came up with:

Pros for the One Step Ahead: growing value, LOVED that we could use it as either double or sit and stand, looked easy to fold, was lighter in weight (not by much), fit the Graco carseat, got good reviews, and love the One Step Ahead brand. Cons: the storage basket (although large) is quite inacessable once there are kids in the seats, the toddler goes in the back seat (so can't see as well), the toddler does not have a snack tray, the toddler's feet dangle into the storage basket (no leg room at all), and the kids face each other (my son would bug the baby...this could be a "pro" for others.)

For the Quattro Duo: Pros: Like my single stoller/travel system that is a Graco, know it will fit the carseat, available in the same fabric as the carseat (not a big deal but nice), looks easier to steer, older child sits in front seat and has a snack/cup holder, back seat is elevated so when we don't use car seat any more both kids can see out, large storage basket that folds down for easier access, small storage basket under front seat to store more supplies, folds compactly, and looks easier to get kids in/out. Cons: doesn't have the sit and stand feature, seems heavier.

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if we end up with both a sit and stand and a double stroller in the future, but for now the Quattro seemed to fit our needs better. However, it all depends on what you are looking for and how often/for what you are going to use it. Good luck!

I have the Graco duo glider and it works great with the car seat. I have the baby in the back and my oldest (2 year old) in the front. the front tray just opens up so he can climb in and out if I want him to rather than having to lift him. The only thing I don't like about it is that there is only 1 cup holder for my husband and I and the back seat doesn't have a cup holder for when our daughter gets bigger.

Graco Quattro Tour Duo gets my vote. My boys are 23 months apart, and both very large boys. We tryed out the sitnstand and the duoglidder but the quattro seamed to fit them both comfortably while still being relatively easy to move and transport. I didn't like that the seat in the sit n stand stroller didn't recline very much, making a nap for the baby nearly impossible. It would be a good stroller if all you use it for would be a quick trip to the mall, ect. But for longer strolls I think both children would get uncomfortable.
Quattro is one of the pricier double strollers, but I got mine in new condition on Craigslist for $150. Worth looking there first.
Good luck.

I have the Graco Quattro Duo. I have really liked it, I have been using it for over a year now. My girls are 18 months apart so it has been a lifesaver when I need to go places!
I chose this stroller over the duoglider because it is smaller and more compact. It might have been slightly more $$ but I thought it was worth it, it seems more sturdy than the duoglider as well. I have a van now, so I have plenty of space, but for the first few months I had a Mazda 6. It fit fine in the trunk, it was easier to get in upside down so the wheels wouldn't get in the way when sliding it in.
Now that my older one is getting close to 3yrs she is getting better about walking and staying with my when we go places so I have been looking at the sit n stands. I personally have not liked the Baby Trend one. It is just as long as my double stroller, so it kind of defeats the purpose of ''down sizing''. When we have the extra $$ we'll probably get a Joovy sit and stand stroller. They are super compact and much easier to manage. I don't think, however, they are compatable with carseats :( but you could look into it, I could be wrong.

C.,

I drive a minivan (so have space for a bigger stroller) and bought a used Baby Trend Sit-n-Stand for my kids. I use it 3 days a week going in and out of school for ECFE/Preschool. The baby clicks in the front (fits the Graco seat fine), the two year old sits on the seat behind (I buckle him in) and my 3 year old stands facing the 2 year old. It holds all 3 kids just fine for the walk in and out of school, and is much faster than trying to get the 2 and 3 year olds in walking during winter.

A fellow Mama-Source mom sold it to me for $50, and I have been very happy with the purchase!

I have two friends with the DuoGlider and they were both happy with them, but they are even bigger, and a bit harder to move than the Sit-n-Stand. Their boys are 3 and 4 and both have stopped using them because the boys won't sit in them anymore (and are too heavy at this point). I like the option for my older kids to stand to ride.

Good luck to you!

I have the sit n stand stroller. I have a 3 1/2 year old and a 1 year old. They have both loved it so far. It is fairly reasonably priced and works well. The only complaint is that it fills up my whole car trunk, but it works fine in our SUV.
