I've been looking online and feel I've seen it all but I never know that's why I'm asking and wondering if anyone has had luck with a certain stroller or had not so good luck with one. I am due in the beginning of March; I also have a 3 year old girl and 7 year old boy. I want to find a double stroller that allows my 3 year to ride comfortably and for the infant car seat to lock into the other seat. Alot of them are made for really more closer in age children but I can't see chasing down my 3 yr. old while trying to push the baby in a single stroller. Thanks any advice would be helpful!

What can I do next?

I LOVE my sit n stand! My daughter is 2 1/2 and can sit when she wants to sit or hop off and walk next to me when she wants to walk. I also love that the carseat snaps right in like the travel systems. The only problem I have with it, is that the storage basket is impossible to access when the older child is sitting. But that doesn't bother me to much and I love how lightweight it is :)

I would get a single stroller sturdy enough to handle an attachable toddler/child stand or sit that rolls behind the stroller. Speaking from experience, the 3 yr old will not want to sit strapped in a stroller "like a baby". Trust me, they figure out quickly how to scoot out of those straps, anyway and will learn how to unbuckle them after that. I think the attatchment will make your 3 yr old feel like a big kid and sometimes allow her to walk off some of that crazy energy she has. Good luck!

Hi there. I am not a double stroller owner, so I can't give you brand names, but I recently saw a stroller where the little one rides in the front, but there is a backward facing sort of bench seat on the back that the older child can jump on and off of. It's nice because the older child can walk awhile, then hop on for a ride when they get tired.

I'm not sure a carseat fits into this type of stroller, but even if it doesn't, you could always get a sling to carry your little baby in in the meantime and just use a regular stroller until the baby is big enough to sit up in the stroller. Here is a guide to the slings out there:

good luck!

Last September when my son was born, and my daughter was 2.5 yo, I bought the Joovy Caboose Ultralight in Sage Green from Amazon. I cannot say enough WONDEREFUL things about it! We didn’t want the dual stroller since my daughter really likes to walk, and the dual strollers are huge. The Ultralight, (not sure if they are sold in store yet), is better than the regular Caboose, which is sold at BrU. It’s lighter, has a bigger and higher canopy, has better wheels, includes the parent organizer and the jump seat can be secured. We have used the stroller everywhere (zoo, mall, Disney, Busch Gardens etc) and LOVE it. My daughter enjoys standing and sitting on the back. It is SO easy to fold and lift and is quite compact. Also, we’re tall people (I’m 5’10”, hubby is 6’2”) and the handles are so comfortable and we don’t kick the stroller when walking. The Ultrlight is built with more height clearance and will accommodate taller children – my 3.5 yo is almost 44" and it looks like she will be able to use this stroller for years to come. I am extremely impressed with this stroller and would highly recommend it!

The only downsides are when using the infant car seat, the canopy cannot be used and the basket area is a little hard to get to, but the benefits far far out way those things.

I did a lot of research on strollers before I decided on the Ultralight, and although the Baby Trend and others may be cheaper and will do a similar job, the easy of use, the durability, the little extras (taller handles, larger canopy etc), the comfort, and the fact that it accommodates taller kids is worth the extra 60 bucks.

I have 2 children ages 3 and 1 and when my son was born we got the graco duo glide and I LOVE it! It folds and opens easily and it worked perfect when my son was a newborn! I highly recommend it to anyone!

Hi D.,
I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 3 month old. I got the Graco Quattro Duo Glide (the one where the handles look like bull horns). It works great and is MUCH smaller than the older style Graco Duo Glide. The car seat snaps into the back seat and the older kid sits in the front so he/she can see everything. It is very easy to fold and unfold and fits in the trunk of a car just fine. It is also really easy to recline the seats, unlike the older Graco I had when my first son was born. I do wear my little guy in a front carrier or sling sometimes, but that can do a real number on your back so I take the stroller when I am going to be gone a while. Hope this helps!

I have an almost 3 yr old and a 9 week old. I chose to get the new Peg Perego Aria 60/40. It is a side by side where one seat is bigger than the other. It is the newer model of the Aria so you probably won't find one used. For now my older child is in the smaller seat and the baby is in her car seat placed in the larger seat of the stroller. Once the baby outgrows her car seat they will switch seats. My daughter is pretty big for her age and she fits fine. Both seats recline way back easily. I like the sit n stand when shopping but we like to spend whole days out at the theme parks or zoo and she will still nap in a stroller and sometimes gets tired of walking. It really depends on how your older one is. The stroller is expensive but the only one that is made like that. She was too tall and looked uncomfy in the graco front/back models. The peg perego says it works with a peg perego car seat but I have a Graco car seat and it fits fine. There are a few cons- expensive, no organizer tray, sometimes hard to get stuff in and out of basket, and it feels huge sometimes. However, all double strollers are expensive, huge and clumsy and I bought hooks for the handle bars. Let me know if you need more info.

I have always had great luck with my Graco DuoGlide stroller. Too bad, I just recently sold it to another couple awaiting the arrival of their 2nd child in January. My now 3yr old son fit VERY comfortably in the stroller along with my now 1yr old daughter. I bought the DuoGlide stroller right before my daughter was born as my son just wasn't quite ready to walk in certain public places so I purchased this stroller. It was great because my daughter's infant seat fit either in the back or front of the stroller and then my son went in the other seat. Both seats reclined which was great once my daughter outgrew the infant seat. We now have the Chico single stroller and my son is too much of a "big boy" he says to ride in a stroller. So far so good !! Good luck !!

I love my Sit n Stand XL ($129). I thought I could get by with just a single stroller for my 2.5 year old and to wear my newborn but often my newborn will be alseep in his carseat by the time we get somewhere. It seemed a shame to wake him to then strap in on me. I still wear him in a Baby Bjorn when he is up but the Sit n Stand has been a life savor!! I bought it after about two weeks of trying different ways to get in and out of the library, the park and just couldn't manage. Now we roll everywhere! My older son loves sitting or standing - there is a harness for each option. A lot depends on whether your 3 year old will sit/stand in a stroller too. And the part where the infant seat goes also turns into a regular seat for when the infant is bigger. There is also plenty of room underneath for our goodies. HOpe this helps.

Hi D. - You may want to try the Lascal Buggy Board. My son was almost three when my 3rd child was born. Knowing that he was going to outgrow the stroller sooner than later, we bought the Buggy Board that attached to our umbrella stroller (MacLaren) and our universal infant carrier stroller. The downside to this is that your 3 yr old will be standing and does not have the comfort of being pushed. The positive is that it encouraged my 3 yr old to "be a big boy" and soon enough, he stopped even riding on the buggy board and only wanted to walk. Good luck and best wishes throughout the remainder of your pregnancy ...and beyond!

Hi D.,

I think Karlise's idea makes sense. I am due with our second baby in A. 09, and plan to wear him/her in a sling at least the first several months, probably longer.

It allows you to keep the younger one calm and close, while having two hands to dedicate to the older one.

Once the younger one has learned the excitement of mobility, then we'll probably transition to a double stroller. Though I'd love to keep him/her in a mei tai (a sitting upright type sling) for a long, long time. :) HTH!

You may want to look at the sit and stand strollers. My 2 kids are 3 1/4 yrs apart and it worked for me. They are nicer now. Mine was a joovy caboose.

Have you thought about wearing your baby? It keeps your hands free for your 3 yr old. I wear my dd and I also have 3 & 6 yr old boys. There's a wonderful Babywearing group in the Tampa area called the marsupial Mamas. You can do a Yahoo Group search for them. You should also check out Thebabywearer.com for tons of info. There are so many different carriers out there too. It could get addictive. ;) Just don't go with the run of the mill store bought carriers you'll find at Babies R Us. They just aren't good.

Well, I had the same question a little while back...I'm due with my second on Dec. 1 and have a son who will be three on Jan. 7. The only problem with double strollers, front and back is the one child can only see that back of the other seat and is crammed in there. Remember, you will only need the car seat until the baby can sit up. I purchased the babies r' us double side by side jeep umbrella stroller and it was only $89 compared to $200 to $300. It is wonderful and sturdy and can't wait to use it. You can sit both a newborn and a three year old, it says, up to 35 lbs for the older child but it can hold more. Both seats recline and you can use a headrest for the newborn unntil he/she sits up. The seat, as I said, reclines more than other strollers so it's nice. Another mom I see at the park has the same one and she loves it, she has a 5 month old and a 3 1/2 year old and said that she had the back to back big thing with the car seat and hated it and sold it. Up to you but I would highly recommend it. It won't tip over either with the weight of the other child she said. Plus it folds up nicely and is real easy to transport unlike the big honkin' back to back ones...Good luck...P.S. don't buy a sit n' stand....Kids get tired of standing after a little while...If watching money is an issue as it certainly is for me, this is a great buy. Would be great at Disney world etc. too....

First of all Congrats!! I don't have any personal experience with this stroller. But, I think that the Sit n Stand strollers would work well for a newborn and a toddler. I have 2 neices and 3 1/2 and 1 and I am looking at getting one. I have seen them a lot and wondered if they work well. Hopefully someone can comment on this and help us both. Good luck. I'll be checking back often to see what good recommendations you get.
