I have a 2 year old that has had trouble with wetting through his diaper and all the way through his pjs at night. By morning his entire bed needs to be changed and blankets washed etc etc. It is a small problem but time consuming to do everyday. I have tried every kind of diaper brand out there.WE have put a diaper on and also a plastic/ cotton lined trained pant ontop and that hasn't helped. We also have tried a diaper and then a swim diaper on top. that seems to have the most luck but the majorty of the time it still come through. I don't really know what to do anymore. Any tips?

Try using a bigger diaper.

Hi A.,
I have a boy that turned 2 in Jan. I always have him go potty before bed. I haven't really started potty training but this kills 2 birds with one stone. I have introduced potty training to him plus he doesn't wet through his diaper. I would also use a size bigger diaper. We use pampers size 6. They are a little big but he never wets through his diaper. I don't think that I would limit his liquids, especially with summer coming. If he is thirsty you don't want to dehydrate him. Good luck.

You won't probably hurt him by limiting liquids I just find it a little mean. If I was thirsty after running and planning all day I'd be mad. JMHO.

You are not going to dehydrate your 2 year old by limiting fluids toward bedtime. Even though he is still in a diaper, you'll have to start implementing it anyway later on. Our sons drink plenty all day long, I've never worried about restrictions after dinner being harmful. The 4 year old knows that he may only have sips within a couple hours of bedtime and he has yet to deydrate! LOL

Our son had this problem for a long time. We usually limited his fluids (also helps for potty training) and made sure the top of the diaper was folded in. Otherwise his pajamas would just wick the pee right out. We also switched up a size in his diapers. i have also heard that using cloth diapers and their liners are the best for overnight because you can customize how much absorbancy you need. You can also change his diaper before you go to bed. good luck!

I agree with limiting the fluids right before bedtime, but you can also purchase a removable smaller pad that goes on top of the sheets. If he wets thru, you change the pad, not the entire bed. Makes life a lot easier! They can be found anywhere you buy mattress pads or at Babies R Us.

I had this same problem....I use Pampers at night, a size bigger and I stopped giving him anything to drink a couple of hours before bedtime, usually around 7. He would drink me out of house and home if I let him:-)

Buy huggies overnite diapers. They are the best. They are super absorbant. My daughter started wearing them at about a year old when she started wetting through most nights.

Target sells the huggies overnites in size 4 and 5.

They also they sell dipaer doublers at toys rus..

They are basicly a maxipad that would add extra absorbancy to the diaper.

I'd stop giving him fluids a few hours before he goes to bed. If he wants a drink limit it to just a sip of water. If he's drinking a lot of juice or milk during the day limit that to only one glass of each a day instead give him water, water is what he needs for hydration. This has always worked for my kids. Hope this helps!

Have you tried putting an overnight diaper on her just at night? I had to do that with my son Logan. He was peeing thru everything at night. The overnight diaper worked.

When my boys were little, I put a maxi pad in their diaper... this helped a lot. It gave a little bit more "area" to absorb. It's worth a shot! Good luck.

Just a thought...check the books as to how much he actually needs in fluids daily and then try to get them in before 6pm.
After the 6 pm time...I would give "sip" before tucking in for the night!
