I have a 1 and 1/2 year old daughter, Cressa, who is very social. But we are new to Savannah and we don't know any other moms with young children. We go to the park every day and there are children there sometimes, but many of them are older and don't really pay attention to my wee one. I think it's really bumming her out. She loves other children, actually other people in general, she's just a sweetheart, and it breaks my heart that she doesn't get the chance to interact with many kids. I'm a SAHM so there's not daycare or anything either. Anyway, I'm wondering if there are any playgroups around or even if anyone else is looking for a playdate. We live in Savannah by the way.
I know this is an older post, but I thoguht I would respond and tell you about the playgroup I have been going to since July 2007. We all converse through http://sahm.meetup.com/2618/ there is over 50 of us right now! Some people are more active than others. But they are great people, overall a very active group! Come join us!
I know exactly how you feel! I am fairly new to the area and find it difficult to meet other moms interested in a play group. This site would be perfect for organizing one, but there is nothing listed so far. I found that the best way to meet moms in the area is going to parks, malls (Oglethorpe has a great play area), etc. I haven't found anyone that knows about a playgroup in the area yet, but I did get my son into a preschool that I love, Growing in the Sun (at the Savannah Christian Church), and I have met some great people through that. Did you ever find a playgroup?
There are lots of MOPS (Mothers Of Pre-Schoolers) here in the area. Other than that I am new myself and don't really know of much. If there is a Mom and kid hang out I'd like to know about it too!!
I do know that a lot of moms go to the Oglethorpe Mall and let their kids play in the tot lot. However I homeschool and they will not let my oldest who is seven play because she is too tall so I do not go often as it is unfair to her. Although she never minds adopting the babies to watch after!...M.
