my daughter is going to be 3 in jun, she has a speech delay at this point she speaking at a 15-18 month old level (she hasnt been eveluated in a few months) and the threapist told me due to her speach delay that could delay her potty training. and right now she is in a size 7 pampers cruisers and they dont make diapers any bigger, she is 40 inches tall and 41lbs she is solid! So the pampers size 7 is starting to cut into the front of her hip bone and leaving a red mark, and she is no where ready to potty train, she is just starting to tell me every now and then shes wet even tho i ask her if shes wet or if shes peeing when i know she is wet or peeing, so im not sure what to do since shes growing out of the last size in diapers and puil ups are the same size and the size 7's and dont hold nearly as much as diapers do, is there any other mommy's out there with this problem if so please help!! im at a loss

Pull-ups, goodnights, etc. My DD is 4 1/2 and is 43 lbs and 43 inches and she still fits in a huggies slip-on size 5. Kroger sells a night diaper that I like too. It's the Kroger brand overnight diaper in a size 4/5 and is a tad big in the belly but fits nicely around her legs. They're cheap too! $7!
I have a big for his age son and when he was 3 we were still potty training. We used the overnight pull-ups and Goodnights which both have good absorbency. Regular pull-ups don't absorb that much with a bigger child--they are just made for accidents while training.
You are just going to have to start potty training... plain and simple. My son was also delayed in his speech (same as yours) and I started prepping for potty training right before he turned 3 and then I had to bite the bullet and do it. I used pull ups and we just went into the bathroom every half hour and try. The pull ups have an area that shows you and the child if they are wet or not so every time you see she is dry, you give big praises. She is at an age now where she can understand when you tell her that it's time to get into big girl underwear because diapers don't fit anymore. That's what I had to do. And no, the pull ups don't hold as much as diapers because they are for training. So once they are wet, you need to put a clean one on. There are also Goodnights which are, for all intent and purposes, a nighttime diaper for bigger kids who wet the bed at night. They come in big sizes so you could even do those if Pull Ups are too small. Don't let the speech thing hold you back. I was scared to do potty training, but read up on how best to approach it. If you are consistent, it will work. Also, if you plan on putting her in preschool, she needs to be trained.
larger diapers are made for special-needs kids. Contact your local support group, hospital, or try the mfg websites.
Think about the kids with CP, the severely autistic, & many other kids needing larger sizes.....they're out there somewhere! You're just not going to find anything locally. Good Luck!
Pull ups aren't actually the same size as diapers. My almost 5 year old still wears one at night and she's 44 inches tall (but only about 38 pounds). That said... the pull ups she wears say they go up to 55 pounds and they're huge on her. Take a look next time you go to Target (or wherever), you'll probably find some that will fit your daughter.
Your DD may not be ready yet, but that's not to say she won't be very soon. Just because her special needs "could" delay her toilet learning, doesn't automatically mean that will for sure be the case. You've gotten some good advice on where to find bigger diapers. But I would also buy her some underwear, just to have on hand and let her try wearing them at home sometimes. If they're more comfortable than the size 7 diapers, she may be motivated to start wanting to use the toilet. You never know. I wouldn't give a super intense push for it, but just kind of non-chalantly let her have that option available. She may surprise you.
Underjams come in sizes up to 110lbs. If there is developmental delay it is a challenge for their brains to put it all where we think it should fit. Don't
let others make you feel like you are not doing something because obviously most parents celebrate the day they don't have to change, buy or smell a diaper. Online i have seen the larger childrens diaper sizes. Make sure whatever you get fits well to avoid skin breakdown.
what are the smallest adult diapers? Or maybe call a local hospital and find out what they use/recommend.
My kids were in pull-up at that age...is that a possible option for you?
They make the pull ups in much bigger sizes. They even have diapers up through adult sizes. If she is this large then you need to switch to the pull ups anyway. They are stretchier and the overnights hold a lot of pee. We have always used the Huggies overnights with either Buzz Lightyear or the Disney princesses on them. The girls are in a dark maroon package and the boys is dark blue. The size 3 or 4 or 3-4 fits my 8 1/2 year old granddaughter. But we did recently change to a different brand that look more like underwear. They work okay, not as excellent as the Huggies but okay.
Just because she is not mentally ready does not mean you can't get her to start sitting on the potty every hour and starting the whole process. Not expecting it to take and work is right but she can get used to sitting on the potty and experiencing the sensation.

Why don't you move into pull ups or underjams type pull on diapers for bigger kids?
I would try Underjams. My son used to wear them at night until he was about 5, when he finally stayed dry at night. He was about 45 lbs when he stopped wearing them, but they had even larger sizes than the ones he wore.
Pull ups will probably be your best bet. Otherwise, maybe look into something like Underjams, the nighttime diapers for big kids.
I agree with the others. My daughter is 3 1/2 and completely potty trained, except at night. She is also pretty tall for her age and the 3t 4t overnights still work for her. How much longer I am not sure....
Is there a way to extend the tab to loosen the grip around her waist? Like tab extenders?
I'm not sure you want to invest in cloth diapers at this stage, but they do help with potty training as the child feels wet right away and they can be folded to fit her.
