My family will be making a quick move to Darien/New Canaan area in the next two weeks and I am in need of information on Hospitals and Obgyns in that area. I am almost 7 months pregnant and need to find a doctor asap. Any recommendations greatly appreciated! A hospital with a good nicu would be ideal since I had complications with my first pregnancy. Thanks in advance for all information.

What can I do next?

I would HIGHLY recommend my OB/GYN and his group in Stamford (I had moved here last year from Manhattan when I was pregnant, and they were recommended by a lot of my husband's friends on Stamford PD). They are very laid back, have a great sense of humor which puts you at ease, and are very responsive to whatever you need. They are affiliated with Stamford Hospital which has a brand new maternity wing and nicu unit. They also have more private rooms than the other area hospitals. And the great thing is that with only 3 docs, you will have a good chance that your doctor will actually deliver or you will already know the other docs. They are Dr. Genarro, Dr. Cahill and Dr. Ghofani. ###-###-####. They are on Summer Street (and it's always easy to park right in front). Good Luck!

Hi T., Congratulations!!! I would be more than happy to help you. I am the first Baby Planner in Connecticut. I have been in the same position you are in that's why I started my business. I was actually high risk myself and would highly recommend the doctors I went to and the hospital I had my son. Here is my website link www.savvymomoncall.com. There you will find a list of my services and my contact information. I would take care of all the work so you can focus on the move. We all know that is stressful enough and being 7 monts pregnant you don't need any more stress then you already have. I hope I hear from you soon.

Please feel free to call me, at anytime, for a free 15 minute consultation.

Regards,
I.

I live in Stamford and I gave birth at Greenwich Hospital and had a wonderful experience there. The hospital is amaing in every respect. I highly recommend it. I had complications and the doctors and nurses at Greenwich Hospital were great. My OBGYN is Putnam OBYGN in Greenwich. Here is their website: http://www.putnamobgyn.com/site/
I have to admit that the doctors seem a bit rushed when you go for your monthly/weekly visits but it was not like that at all once I gave birth. The doctors were all very helpful and spent lots of time talking and explaining everything to me. I have only lived in Stamford for a couple of years and the minute I moved here my friends recommended my OBGYN and I am glad that they did. All my local friends gave birth at Greenwich Hospital becasue it is so wonderful. Everyone gets a private room and the NICU unit is wonderful. I have friends from Rye that came all the way to Greenwich to give birth because it is so great. I have heard a couple of people say that Stamford and Norwalk Hospitals are good as well but nothing compared to Greenwich Hospital. Anyway, good luck with baby number two and let me know which OBGYN and hospital you decide on.

Hi T.,
Congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome to the area! I am also about 7 months pregnant and live in Fairfield.
I have heard good things about all of the area hospitals from other mothers. (Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport and Danbury). I have heard the best things about Bridgeport Hospital and Norwalk Hospital though. Bridgeport has a level III NICU and Norwalk Hospital also has a very good NICU, but I'm not sure if it is level III or not.
My Doctor is Dr. Sauter at the Avery Center in Westport and so far I am very happy with the practice. I have heard a lot of high praise of the Avery Center which is why I chose them. They deliver at Norwalk Hospital.
I have also heard a lot of good things about Women's Care in Wilton:
Elisabeth Aronow, Dr Pandyala, Dr. Delprete.
If you join CtMoms http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CT-moms/
there are a couple of recent message threads about OBGYN referrals in the area as well as a lot of info on area hospitals.

Best of luck and I will pray your baby is born without complications and no need for the NICU.

Hi T.
I am 8 months pregnant and live in westport. I use the Avery center in westport and I love Dr Goldberg and Dr ofer. They use norwalk hospital which has a great nicu. I too had my first have to go to the nicu so that was important to me. Westport is exit 17 off 95 not far from where you will be living. I lived in Darien and it is a nice place to live. Good luck!
