My son is 10 months and his eating habits are changing. Sometimes he likes baby food and sometimes he refuses. He might eat adult food one meal then refuse it for another. I don't know what kinds of foods to give him. He likes pasta, chicken, and breads. For breakfast he eats he eats cereal, yogurt, toast, frenchtoast, or a some bagel. Lunch and dinner are rough. Sometimes he likes #3 babyfood but only the fruits and vegge. no meats(can't say I blame him) other times he refuses them and I don't have many ideas for meals. He doesn't like any of those little meals you can buy. Help please!!! I don't remember my older boys being this difficult. It hasn't been that long they are 5 and 8...I guess I got rusty. Thanks in advance for the advice!

I know it doesn't help but it sounds very normal. As long as he is still on formula or breastmilk he doesn't need meals, it's more about exposure and getting him ready for when he's no longer getting his nutrients from formula. Not saying not to offer him food and to make sure it's good healthy choices, but he isn't going to lack anything if he doesn't eat well. Also it's better to feed 6 small meals than 3 big, and don't forget just how tiny his tummy is, a few bites really may just be all he needs. I never cooked for my kids at that age, I chopped, or pureed what I made for me and if they ate great, if not I always made a little extra and tried again later.

Pastina with butter or rice and chopped meat with tomato sauce. We did scrambled eggs yet I read that some wait a year for this.

For the most part, I just gave mine a bit of what ever we were eating. I used a KitchenAid food chopper to cut it to size. When she was much smaller, I had received a special kitchen accessory that was supposed to puree small amounts of food into "baby food". Surprise, surprise, it didn't work. So, we purchased the chopper and would chop, chop, chop until it was total mush. As she got older we chopped less and so that her bites were the correct and safe size. It was a much used and useful gadget.

Some of my daughter's favorite foods were bananas, all types of fruit, avocados, sweet potatoes, apple sauce, pastas (all kinds), cheese, yogurt, etc.

My favorite cookbooks for babies and toddler are:

"Idiot's Guide to Feeding Your Baby and Toddler"

"Baby & Toddler Meals for Dummies"

I got both by ordering them at Hastings. You can most likely borrow them at your local library and try them out to see if they are a good fit for your lifestyle.
