Hi Moms, I am desperate for some good meals to prepare for my 10 month old daughter. My pediatrician told me to give her what we are eating but everyday is a struggle to make different meals for her. She eats eggs, french toast, pancakes, chicken soup...that is all I can think of. Please help. :O Thank you :)

What can I do next?

I agree with the pediatrician. Make kid friendly meals and she eats what you are eating. Do not do the separate meals, it will drive you crazy! I agree with the person who suggested casseroles. I love tuna noodle casserole, chicken casseroles, anything soft. I would chop into smaller pieces. Spaghetti is great, and you can always give her a slice of Texas Toast to nibble on with that. Grilled cheese and soup is a good idea, esp if she likes soup. Always try to have one item that she could and would definitely eat. Baked potatoes are good, and I love the baked french fries you can get in the freezer section. The smiley ones are shredded and great for little chewers. Fish sticks are good too. If she likes eggs, have omelets for dinner. We love doing that, the adults get the onions and mushrooms, the kids get cheese. Serve with bacon (crumbly and easy for kids to chew) and jelly toast. Always a hit at our house! Good luck to you!

make sure to give her some yogurt. she needs to have her calcium. cheerios are also good to eat. she could probably feed herself some of those. i alternate with yogurt, cherrios, scrambled eggs and give other things such as fruit cut up. give some canned peaches. if she has some teeth cut it small and give it to her. they are soft enough, bannanas may be good also. for lunch try some mac and cheese and see if she likes that. when she gets better it will be easier. good luck

By about 10 months, I just gave my kids whatever I made as a "real" dinner cut up - they loved being able to feed themselves. They did especially well with stuff like meatloaf, chicken, fish, peas, carrots, broccoli, sweet potatoes, etc. It sometimes takes a few exposures before they eat it, but keep at it!

Lots of vegetarian foods are easy on beginning chewers. We eat a lot of: baked beans (with or without hot dogs cut up in it), rice and beans and veggies (grownups eat it as burrito filling, little ones can pick up the individual beans and veggie pieces), couscous with chickpeas and veggies, etc. Also, short or small pasta cooked a little extra soft with sauce/veggies/cheese/ground meat.

Wholesome Baby Fod also has a site that is toddler oriented with lots of ideas. Try chunked avocado, and veggie chicken nuggets...the morning star farm brand are a favorite staple at our house!

I try to make extra of our meals to spread them out. I got 2 lunches and 1 dinner out of a burger (no bun) and peas, lol. I always keep pureed fruits in the freezer to mix with cereals and fruit chunks. My son is getting his 1st year molars and is hooked on jello :)

We make a lot of baked chicken tenders in marinades with veggies and mashed potatoes or rolls and my boys love those. Also baked fish. Use cereal as a coating (like rice krispies or corn flakes). Crunch them up in a baggie and coat the pieces of meat after dipping them in an egg/water or milk/egg mixture. Macaroni and cheese is always good, but you can make other pastas with toppings. My kids love broccoli and will eat that, but they also eat frozen veggies including corn, peas, etc. I usually serve that first when they are waiting for dinner and hungry. They LOVE homemade tortillas, which are really easy to make as well. We eat those with a lot of Mexican dishes, but also with scrambled eggs and cheese, cinnamon and sugar, etc. My kids also love fish bites (just take 1/4 cup of may, 1 pound of cod or other firm white meat, corn flakes, salt and pepper. Cut fish in chunks, coat with mayo and then cereal and salt and pepper mixture and place on cooking sheet. Cook about 10-14 mins at 375 I think) and enchiladas. Best of luck!

Can she manage small tender pieces of chicken yet? You could try a casserole of chicken/stuffing/gravy or cream of chicken soup. Most stuff in a crock pot gets really soft & easy to chew. Roast, potatoes, carrots, etc.
You could cut up slices of cheeses, crackers, butter toast, bananas. Yogurt & fruit. Meatballs & sauce. Any soft, cooked veggies.
You can always put what you have in a small food processor/grinder to make sure it's sodt enough for her.

Boil some brocolli, make sure it is nice and soft then make a grilled cheese sandwich and put the brocolli inside. chop up pieces really small for finger food. Yummy for them and good for them too, simple. T.

Look into this cookbook. If you are like me, you may just need a little meal inspiration! I'm sure if you are making tacos (for example) you can find something in here that uses similar ingredients so you aren't making an entirely separate meal. I am just a mom of a 4 month old, but I inspire to feed her in this manner! Hope it helps!
