Mamapedia No Longer Posting Questions on FB?

So I was about to answer a very personal question that wouldn't be about me but would be about a relative which made me stop and wonder if that relatives kids might see it since they are on Facebook (I don't care much about people seeing what I write about me, but I try to think of the feelings of others).

I went to look at the Mamapedia page on FB and it looks like the only thing being posted now are cute/funny pictures, Mamapedia Voices essays and Mamapedia Sweet Deals. Good for them if that's the case - wasn't that the reason so many people changed their usernames a few years back?

And too be honest, I like the funny pictures :)

What can I do next?

If indeed they aren't posting our questions on FB anymore, then it is a change in their policy. They did this to one of our ladies whose fiance died. It happened within the last year. We had gone through this sad time with her throughout his illness and she wrote a lovely tribute to him while letting us know that he had passed away. Not only did MP put this on FB without her knowledge or consent, but they wrote a commentary on it calling him her SON, and saying that she was trying to get sympathy from the MP community, blah blah blah. It incensed everyone, hurt her a great deal, and a sh*tstorm ensued with many letters to mamasupport and anger written here for days. And yes, you're right - droves of posters changed their names on here, and a lot of people just flat out left. MP did EVENTUALLY remove it. They finally issued an apology. I think that they realized that if they didn't come on here and tell EVERYONE they were sorry, that the thread bashing would continue and continue. There was no apology for putting these questions on FB - none. And certainly nobody was telling us that they would re-think doing it.

IF they have changed their policy, it would be great. BUT (and this is a big but), I don't have ANY trust in them not going right back to "sensationalism" to get new people to click on MP through FB. Don't believe for a minute that your question is "safe" from being pulled out of here and plastered on FB for the world to see.

I believe that the reason we have had SO many trolls for the past year plus, is specifically because MP in now on FB. Lest you think that logging on to MP through your FB account is why they chose your question, it isn't. So just be forewarned. No one on here is "safe" from this being done to them...

I was HORRIFIED to find that a posting I put on Mamapedia which I felts was anonymous ended up on my FB page but that was because as soon as I logged into MP via the FB button it changed my setting on FB to link that website in "my settings". Fortunately it wasn't too personal, more a general question. I only found out because my friends started commenting on my posting which shows up in my email!! I quickly went to FB settings and removed all the allowed links (or some such term). I HATE that FB has so many adds and posting that are not my friends. I actually suspended my FB account because of it. I am glad it was not a personal issue about something like a heavy period or diarrhea that got posted to my FB page by mistake!

I would NEVER log on through Facebook or post something that would lead back to me. If I wanted to ask my friends, I would. I come here to get honest, non-sugar coated answers to tough questions. I don't trust the internet or this site for privacy.

Eta - I remember what happened well. And while anonymous, it was absolutely atrociously wrong. I just was responding to he person who thought it was safe now to log in through Facebook - wasn't then or now.

I hope so.

Veruca Salt, it was happening with random questions, not just from users that logged in via fb.
