Makeup Stains on Dresser--how to Clean It?

I have an old bureau that I want to clean up. It's got makeup/dust stains in the wood grain on top. Any idea about how to get it to come out? I've tried pledge, old english, soap/water...hasn't helped. I'm tempted to just pull out my husband's giant sander and go at it.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Sand and revarnish ;)

I wouldn't use the Mr Clean Magic Eraser... it's it's older furniture, the stain will come right off... I've made that mistake before ;)

Liquid Gold is the very best for wood. It's a spray you'll find with the furniture polish, but it's more than just a polish... it really works magic. I used them on my old kitchen cupboards and they look new again. It nourishes the wood deep down. Good luck.

this may seem silly but have you tried an oil based make up remover?
