Northwest Pediatrics - Dr. Kaufmann and Dr. Littlefield especially. Corner of Huebner and Bandera, ###-###-#### - Very good team of doctors...
Does anyone know a good pediatrician in the medical center area? I took my son for his 2 month well baby check up yesterday and the doctor spent like 5 minutes with us and didn't answer any of my questions. My son has a lot of congestion and drainage, has difficult eating his bottle and breathing at night and has been spitting up mucus and the doctor said this was completely normal and not to worry about it. I would like to get a second opinion.
Thanks!

My doctor is Craig Kuebker. He is a Family Doctor, not a Pediatrician. He's great. You never feel rushed and he answers all of your questions. He's very practical in his practice of medicine. And, he can see your whole family. His office is now located off of Huebner Rd. between Echkert (sp?) and Fredericksburg. ###-###-####. The Muellers (husband and wife doctors) share the same office and also seem to be good. She saw my son when he was born since Dr. Kuebker couldn't. She seemed good, but I've only worked with her that one time.
I take my 3 kids to Dr. Tina Boylston at Southwest Children's in the Medical Center. The number is 210-614-TOTS. I have seen several drs. in that group. Dr. Boylston is by far the best. She has cared for my kids for 3 years since we first moved here. My daughter has asthma and was hospitalized. Dr. Boylston has called on numerous occasions to check on her at home. My sister also takes her 2 children to her. Good luck!
Dr. Margaret Neiheisel (LOVE HER)
I have a 4 month old daughter who just got over congestion and this is what I was told...
1. saline drops into nose - let sit for about a minute - suction with aspirator - do this BEFORE every feeding time
2. get a cold air humidifier to run at night
3. use the hottest shower setting (I sat in the shower (NOT IN THE WATER) w/ the curtain closed and let the steam work - it really does
GOOD LUCK
Hi A.,
I do not know any good pediatricians in the medical center area. My pediatrician is very good her name is Janet Noll but she's off of Huebner & Bandera. If in case you live near there. She will answer every question you have.
As for your baby the only thing you can do at this age is: try to keep him elevated most of the time so the mucus doesn't attach itself his chest and gets worse. I would keep my kids in their car seat most of the time and take them out every once in a while so they can rest their backs. Put some saline nose drops and suction it out with the bulb syringe. Get a cool mist humidifier and run it while he sleeps. I don't know how you feel about home remedies but this works wonders. You can boil some water, turn it off and drop a few oregano leaves in there for about 5 minutes. Sift and once the water has gotten warm give him like 2 ounces in the morning and then 2 ounces in the evening. Have him drink it and lay him on his back, cup your hand and pat his back (not to hard and not to soft) the phlegm will start to loosen and he will start spitting up the mucus. Well A., hope these tips help your baby. Good luck!
I highly recommend Dr. Margaret Neiheisel. She has been our pediatrician since my son was born. I now have two children. They both love her. She has always been very thorough, attentive to our situation and a great listener.

If you have any specific questions about her feel free to email me. Incidentally, she is in the same practice as Dr. Neiheisal. Good Luck!
NW Pediatrics is fabulous. It's at huebner and Bandera and the number is ###-###-####. All of the dr's are very nice and thorough. Moreno and Abrams are my favorites.
We moved here over a year ago. My kids pedi is Dr. Helen Perez from Children's First Pediatrics. She is great with my kids. If I need to take my kids in for a sick visit..it's the same day. Her nurse, Ms. Kitty is great as well.
I used to go to Dr. Laura Davis and Margaret Neisiel until my daughter was about 2 1/2 years old. I loved the two doctors and they were very very nice, but had to move pedi's because the office was so crowded and I always waited at least an hour or two to see the doctor. I think things may be better there now because they are splitting that practice and moving some dr's and patients to a Stone Oak office. I think there may just be too many dr's and patients in that office for good care. My dr. is not in the medical center but is very very good . Dr. Linda Cook is off of Broadway and Sunset, I highly reccomend any dr in her practice and they spend as much time with you as you need.
Southwest Children's Center on the corner of Babcock and Medical. They have 7 doctors and a nurse practioner. We moved them when my daughter turned 3 (she is now 6 1/2) because of another doctor/staff situation. WE LOVE IT. We have seen almost every doctor (my daughter has asthma and sometimes we have to go in quickly) in the practice and we both love them all.
The office is completely on computer so it makes getting in an out a whole lot faster. The staff is INCREDIBLE and we have never had a 'bad day' there. We only waited twice the whole time we have been going and one of those times we were early for our appointment and the next time they had had an emergency which had slowed things down a little.
The best part, my daughter loves them too. We now have a second little one and they were great at the hospital with him too!
They are also a research center and I feel they are so knowlegeable. We love them.
Hope this helps and you find a doctor you love!

Dr Juan Ferreris (children first pediatrics) Both of my kids, now 12 and 14, have had Dr Ferreris from Day 1. He is awesome, very approachable and answers all of your questions. If he is not taking any more patients any of the other Doctors with his practice are just as good. Dr Michael Gulde and Dr Mary Helen Perez. Even when the Doctor is not available, the kids and I feel very comfortable with the other two Doctors. Hope this helps. Their phone number is ###-###-####.

These doctors will answer all your questions, see you on short notice, and get you in/out on time. We've been seeing them for 9 months, since my little boy was 9 months old. They've seen him for well visits, and many sick visits. There are many other doctors in the practice, but these are the two we always ask for.
Dr. Juan Ferreris of Children's First Pediatricts is amazing! I highly recommend him. His office # is ###-###-####.
