I go to Northeast Pediatrics Associates off of 1604 and Stone Oak. My doctor is Dr. Melanie Mitchell and she is wonderful I have used her since my son was born 3yrs ago. The phone is ###-###-####. Hope this helps.
Good morning all,
I moved to SA from Austin last year with a 3 month old son. We had an awesome Pedi over there who was a very experienced doctor in his 60's. Since moving here, I have gone through 3 Pediatricians. We went to see Dr. Guerra off on Hwy 281 and his office is filthy, has very rude receptionists, and the 3 times I went, I was made to wait over 1 hour with an appointment! I then went to Stone Oak Pediatrics and have seen Dr. Bourland and Dr. Trexler but they both act unsure of themselves and seem very inexperienced and young. We ended up going through 5 different antibiotics for an ear infection because they couldn't pinpoint the right one. Also, when you go there, they just rush you through the visit because they just moved into a new office and you can tell they are trying to move too many patients through the day to maximize profits. When I asked them for a summary of the care he's received, they hadn't even been tracking his visits or medications. I ended up taking him off the antibiotics after doing my own research and finding out that its very dangerous for a baby to go through more than 3 courses of antibiotics consecutively. Can anyone out there recommend a caring Pedi? I would prefer someone experienced and older and in a small practice in the 281/1604 area. THANKS for your help!

If you're looking for high quality, I would recommend Dr. Melanie Mitchell with NE pediatrics. All three of my children see her. She is a very caring ped and speaks to you with confidence. Sometimes there is a wait in the office or it may be a little difficult to get on the schedule for a sick visit but I hear EVERY large high quality practice here is like that. Good Luck!
i like ABCD Pediatrics, ###-###-####. just don't get dr. fischer. all the other ones are fine drs. i've also heard, "through the years", off of huebner is awesome. it's a one man show...dr. brandy something.
I LOVE ABCD Pediatrics right off of Stone Oak and Stonehue. It is NOT a small practice...but I have never had to wait long for an appointment. They never make me feel rushed. I have seen all of the doctors in their Stone Oak branch...and I like all of them. My main ped is Dr. Arnold...and I like her the best...but I also like Dr. Bassey. Several of my friends and co-workers also take their kids to ABCD and they love it too. Their number is 210-494-ABCD.
ABCD Pediatrics. They are awesome....
I know you said you want someone in the 1604/281 area, but I am going to recommend my daughter's pediatrician. His name is Dr. William Beck and he's off of I10 and Fredericksburg. He's an older gentleman (i don't know his exact age but I would guess late 40's or 50's). He's wonderful!! He was my god children's pediatrician, my daughter's only pediatrician since birth, and I've recommended two other families to him that have been extremely happy. He's very knowledgable and his nurse Nelda is great! He's at MacGregor Medical Center and phone # is ###-###-####. Good Luck
Hi M.,
My name is C. P. and I live in San Antonio. Do you have an insurance plan? The reason I ask is that if you do, you may want to contact your insurance company for a Pediatrician as they can provide you with one with quality service. I work for United Healthcare and we do that for our members. I will see what doctors are in your area and get back with you.
Our family goes to ABCD Pediatrics in the Stone Oak area. We have been very happy! We do not see the same doctor every time, but they get us in quickly and have a very good staff of nurses and doctors. The number there is ###-###-####.
Good Luck!
We LOVE our pediatrician-Henry Lipsitt, Drs Borenstein and Johnson are also good-in the same office. ###-###-#### (it's not a very convenient location-Hildebrand and San Pedro, but he is worth the travel). We have a 4 yr old, 2 yr old and 9 month old. Dr. Lipsitt is probably in his 50s or 60s, very calm (as I was a VERY anxious first time mom), he's seen it all....and I like that he isn't so quick to prescribe antibiotics (he sent us home last week with a prescription, but said to wait a couple of days to see if it ended up being necessary)
Hi M. - I love my pediatrician and have several friends who go to him as well. His name is Dr. Frederick Rhame and he is at Northeast Pediatrics. The main office if off of Village drive across from Northeast Baptist Hospital. I believe they have a satalite office over in your area but I don't think Dr. Rhame wotks over there. He is older but has a child that is 5 or 6 so he is up with the latest practices. He left the practice for a while and worked at a children's er but is now back in practice. I even know someone who went to him as a child! The office has hours on Saturdays and Sundays if there is an urgent need. Ho[e it helps...I know it is a drive but I live in New Braunfels and I haven't switched doctors! It is worth the drive. The number is ###-###-####.

Try Dr. Ike Pauli off of Stone Oak. I'm not sure if they are accepting new patients but he is REALLY good.

I also have used ABCD Pediatrics off of Stone Oak Parkway. They are awesome...we usually see Dr. Schlosberg or Dr. Wilke. I have recently seen Dr. Gonzales with my newborn. Whatever the case, the staff and physicians have been wonderful with my needs and especially the needs of my children! They are great about getting you in the same day if your child is sick. So...I highly recommend them. I took my son to an ENT, Dr. Moe, as well. The other dr there, Dr. Bonilla is also great. My sister in law inquired about that for me (she's an anestheseologist) and she asked around for me since I was really nervous about the ear tubes/anesthesia for my 2 year old son a few years back. And finally, we use Rebecca Wilson at Alamo Heights Pediatric Dentistry. She's awesome! Her office staff is wonderful!!! And my kids LOVE to go to the dentist!!! It's crazy...
Good luck,
L.
I HIGHLY recommend ABCD Pediatrics. They are at Stonehue and Stone Oak Pkwy, right around Heubner and Stone Oak Pkwy. They have around 5 or 6 doctors. I have seen all of them and LOVE them all. I have never had to wait longer than 10 minutes (and I get there 15 minutes early). You always get a conveinent appointment, even on the day you call and the doctors are wonderful. Ya know on those days when you wake up and have to see a doctor. My favorites are Doctor Fischer, Dr. Gonzales, Dr. Basey...they are thorough, complete, and the place is even open on Saturday from 8-12...but will stay as long as they have kiddos who are sick. They are really good. I have a lot of friends who use them and also love them. Trust me you will love this place...everyone is wonderful!!!
Hi! I went through a similar situation when I moved from New Orleans a 1 1/2 years ago. I didn't like Dr. Bourland either. My kids now go to ABCD Pediatrics. It is right off Stone Oak. They see Dr. Richard Schlosberg. He is very knowledgeable and warm towards myself and kids. The number is ###-###-####. I always felt Dr. Bourland's office was very conjested and always a long wait with a short appointment. Very cold receptionist. If your child has another ear infection soon. I recommend and ENT. Pediatric EAR, Nose, & Throat ###-###-####. We saw DR. Moe but I've heard good things about the other doctors as well. When you need a dentist I recommend Stone Oak Pediatric Dentistry. I brought my two year old and the staff made her feel so special. She is very active and I didn't think they would be able to look at her teeth. To my surprise they were able to look clean and give a fluoride treatment. The # is ###-###-####. They are across the street from ABCD Pediatrics. I didn't go there because of location but rather by losts of mom's referring me there. Good luck!
Ok so I have a recommendation. Though the office is not small ABCD pediatrics is on Stone Oak right near where it intersects with Heubner. They have about 6 or 7 doctors and some PA's to help with quick visits. You can call in the morning for an afternoon apoointment if child ill. All of the doctors are caring and take their time. My only concern is it is usually hard to see your primary for last minute appointments but I love all the PA's just as much. They have very sweet nurses and office help. They are also not big medicine pushers, antibiotics or OTC's as a pharmacist myself I appreciate that.
Tejas Pediatrics on Blanco Rd. (Office is old, but they are moving to a new one in Stone Oak. Four female (and mothers too) doctors. I have been so pleased!! I usually see Dr. Gonzales or Dr. Storandt.
I like Northeast Pediatrics, Dr. Linda Howelton. Sometimes it is a bit of a wait but that is usually when I call that morning for a visit because one of the kids are sick and they fit me in to her schedule. I have been going to her for 12 years and have not had any problems. Her nurse is awesome. I love her. Her number is ###-###-####, she is located off of Stone Oak and Oak Centre in the Remington Bldg.
Good Luck!
My pedi is the best. Dr. Juan Ferreris at Childrens First Pediatrics. Good Luck!
My daughter sees Dr Jerri Abrams at Northwest Pediatrics on Bandera Road (in Leon Valley.) We transferred to Northwest Pediatrics when my daughter was 2, and she is now 9 1/2. So we have had the same pediatrician for 7 years! It is a practice of all female doctors. If your child is sick...you get in the same day (sometimes even the same hour!) Yes, there might be a short wait once you are in, but at least you have an appointment! In my opinion, Northwest Pediatrics is superb. I recommnd them to anyone who asks, and I would not go anywhere else!!
(I know they are not in your 1604/281 preferred area...perhaps someone else reading this post will find this helpful anyway.)
We moved here not too long ago and we have a pediatrician at Northeast Pediatrics and so far we have been very happy. My daughter has some kidney issues (that she will later have to have surgery to correct) and they are pretty good. Yes they are a busy office and I have had some extensial waiting times with an appointment but they are really quite good. My friend also takes her kids there and they have been going there for years and they have always been pretty happy. It is on Stone Oak not too far from the 281/1604 interchange. Actually it is next to the hospital there on Stone Oak. Hope this helps and I know how you feel. We moved here in November and we loved our pediatrician but we moved from Michigan and of course that's a little too far to go for the doctor.
I like www.abcdpediatrics.com
Dr. Arnold is the best one there and she was the one who discovered that my son had "hashimotos" and they are very good at keeping their records updated via the computer on each visit (they have a computer in every room). I have never waited for more than 10 min. for an appt. and have never felt rushed.
Good luck,
W.
Hi M.,
I too was frusterated with my Pediatrician and switched to Dr. Mccray on Huebner. The office is called "Through the Years Pediatrics" and I have been very happy with her. I used to be an LVN in a really good pediatric clinic in Dallas and so am very picky when it comes to this. She takes her time, is very knowlegable and in the year that I have taken my son there, the longest wait I have had is 20 minuets. Hope this helps.
My sister and I have used the same pedi, Dr. Henry Lipsitt.
He has cared for all five of our boys! All of the other doctors in his office and highly recommended as well. Their office is closer to downtown: Pediatrics and Adolescence, 3111 San Pedro, ###-###-####.
i have had my 2 daughters at North east pediatric associates in stone oak for 8 yrs. now. We see Dr. Pauli. i switched to them after a bad misdiagnosis from another pedidatricain in town. their phone number is ###-###-#### (i think!).
good luck!

Well our pediatrician isnt in the area you requested but she is AWESOME!! We lived in New Braunfels last year and our daughter was born last April. We moved back to SA in January of this year but we have continued to go see our daughters pediatrician in New Braunfels because she is THAT good. Her name is Dr. Boecker. She is so sweet. She isn't exactly older, I would say she is in her mid to late thirties...she could be in her forties. She will take time and explain everything to you.
Since she is in New Braunfels it is a small very nice and clean office in what used to be a home I believe. We never have to wait very long to see her. The nurse knows our daughter by name when we walk in...an no, we haven't been there that much!!! They are very friendly, you feel at home.
We tried other peds in SA but none matched up to the service and comfort we feel with Dr. Boecker so we make the drive. When it comes to your child I guess no mileage is too far if you feel comfortable at every visit. I hope you find a good doctor, it is scary when you don't trust certain ones.
I have been seeing my new pedi for about a year now and have found ALL 3 of the dr's in her practice to be wonderful and well educated. I changed after being with the Stone Oak Pedi's for a while and not liking it at all. I see Dr's John and Linda Cook (a husband and wife team) at 410 and Broadway right past Starcrest. My cousin, who's a nurse, also goes to Dr. Hall in the same practice and loves him as well. Easy in and out and the dr's don't rush you through the visit at all.
Hi there,
First of all I understand how important it is to find a good Ped. I went through 3 since I have been here and finally found one I love. He is a bit far from us but wel worth it. I had Stone oak per and had a horrify experience with their Peds.
So now finally after 3, my boys have Dr. Marshall Benbow. He is very professional he knows his stuff, but he is warm with my boys and us and answers any questions I have even the stupid ones if there are ever any. He fully looks at every sickness and then he will diagnos it with careful attention.
He is in the South east childrens center. Off of medical center. If you are interested I can give you his number and adress.
Good luck
Hi there,
We have used ABCD pediatrics for the past 8 years or so. They are very professional and good with the kids. In that time, I have never experienced a rude doc or assistant. We only recently switched because of a decision we made regarding vaccinations. If you fully vaccinate, you won't have a problem.

Hope this helps.
I use Dr. Melanie Mitchell, North East Pediatric. Her office is off Stone Oak by the hospital. She and the doctors in her practice are awesome. My daughter was a premie and had seizures. They worked us in several times. A doctor called in the evenings if we had problems. Dr. Mitchell routinely called to check on Shelby. Another bonus is that they have urgent appointments on Saturdays at the office off 410.
My friend raves about Through the Years Pediatrics - more info »
15316 Huebner Rd # 102, San Antonio, TX
###-###-#### which is not too far from 281 and 1604.
We go to NW Pediatrics ###-###-####, but it's a little far for you at Huebner and Bandera. We love dr. Abrams.
Good luck.
I highly recommend Dr. Jaime Garza at the Pediatric Associates of San Antonio Clock Tower. His office is locatd at 281 and 1604 (about a mile inside 1604 on 281). He was named most conciencious (sp?) pedi in SA by his peers last year. He is very thorough and gets lots of back ground on symptoms before diagnosing or treatment. The office has 2 waiting rooms (one for sick kids and one for healthy kids) which I think is great. His staff is very helpful and friendly. His office number is ###-###-####. He doesn't rush through visits and takes the time to explain what he is doing and why. Give the office a call and make an appointment, I promise you won't find a more caring doctor in SA. Welcome to town!!
