Hi,
We are looking for a church. We moved here 2 years ago and have not found aplace where we feel comfortable. We have 2 boys, 4 and 2, and it is really hard to visit churches because we don't want to leave them in a different setting every time we visit somewhere new. We have tried one of us going and one of us staying with the boys, but this hasn't worked out. We used to attend a Baptist church, but are open to any denomination. We are looking for somewhere that offers expository preaching and has a strong men's, women's and children's ministry with areas where families can get involved together. Most of the churches we've visited we have not felt comfortable with the children's programs, so if you have any recommendations, we would love to here about how your children like activites for them. I should add that we homeschool, so our kids are used to family-based activities where we're there, so transitioning to a "Sunday-school" environment will be different. Thanks in advance for your help!

I've been going to Lifechurch.tv in South Ft. Worth for 3 years and I LOOOOOVE it! I'm part of the children's ministry there and it's wonderful! Your oldest would be in the "Ark" with the 4 and 5 year olds where they do a color page, activity, watch a video about our story, read the story, play, and then jump in the bounce house. Your youngest would be in the "Under the sea" room with the 2 and 3 year olds. This is the room that I teach. We do the same things, but it's based for toddlers, minus the bounce house. :)
It's a non-denom and Craig Groschel is a wonderful pastor! I ♥ his messages. We partner with tons of ministries and missions and do a ton for the community.

I attend Turning Point Church its located right on the border of S.FtWorth, Burleson & Crowley. Its off of I-35 and Garden Acres. On the SE corner of the Service Rd.(across from LovesGas Station.) It is such a spirit filled-church I love it there. You can go to their website www.tpcfamily.org and check out thier different Programs. They have a wonderful childrens, youth and teen ministry as well as marriage classes, bible studies, prayer groups, missions trips, and our church does alot of volunteer work for the community. They have a ministry that goes to a homeless shelter, area jails to minister to inmates, we collect food and other items for area pantries, and the list goes on. Our paster is Dr. Jeff Wickwire. He has a radio program on 91.3(i think) that you can listen to. Or what might work well for your situation is on the website you can listen to Pastor Jeff's messages(they videotape them live) and decide if you like him enough to want to come visit. I feel he is one of the best bible teachers there are. Every time I go to church he tells me what I need to hear. I always leave fulfilled with the word and holy spirit.(which I find lacking in alot of other churches) We have a wonderful praise and worship too! I feel like its worth a visit. P.S. I was having a hard time getting the website to come up, so maybe the site is down temorarily. Keep trying tho, or just stop by they have 2 services 9am and 11am on Sunday and Wed. night at 7pm. Easter Sunday will be 3 services but not sure the times. They also do a BIG easter egg hunt for the kids prob. the Saturday before!

I'm not sure what exactly you're looking for, but we have attended Altamesa Church of Christ for almost 10 yrs now. There are many young families and young children there; we just finished renovating our building last summer, so if you visited in the past we were probably in the middle of construction so you would not have gotten a true feel as to how our children's ministry works. Anyway, there are age appropriate activities for all ages-babies up to teens. We currently have a 4 mo old, 3 yr old, and 6 yr old. There are various activities going on a regular basis for the men and women. I feel that the worship is more dynamic than most C of C's you will come across, and our preacher does a good job of making things applicable to our daily lives. Anyway, if you have specific questions, I can try to answer best I can!

I am not sure if you are willing to drive to Mansfield, but First United Methodist Church in Mansfield is wonderful. The children's program is great as are the men's and women's. I have always felt comfortable leaving my children in the nursery and now my older child is in the kindergarten class and everyone is just loving and very caring. It is a very active church doing great things for people locally and around the world. If you don't want to drive, but are still interested in checking out a Saturday/Sunday service you can watch online at http://www.firstmethodistmansfield.tv You don't have to be a member of the church to view. Visitors are VERY welcome. There are 3 opportunities--Saturday evening is led by our teaching pastor David Alexander and is more contemporary, Sunday at 9:30 is contemporary music and is led by our Senior Pastor Mike Ramsdell and Sunday at 11 is traditional also led by our Senior Pastor Mike Ramsdell. Also, the church website is http://www.firstmethodistmansfield.org

Hey A.,

My 'god children' (mom, dad, 2 kiddos) attend McKinney Bible Church on Hulen and there are lots of families that homeschool. Lots of ministries for everyone. You can be as involved as you want to be. They also have a deaf ministry and teach sign language, go on mission trips to various parts of the country, etc. It is in SW Fort Worth.

I had a friend (deceased) who went to Alta Mesa Church of Christ. It's a wonderful church, but it's pretty big.

Good Luck.

We attend Joshua Baptist Church and love it - its just outside Burleson. I work in the nursery and my boys (currently 2 and 5) have a great time. If that is too far I would also recommend Crowley United Methodist Church. My boys attended their preschool and they are great as well. I think you'd love both churches - they are growing but not so huge you can't get to know the members.
Its hard going to a new church and leaving your kids in the nursery - I understand. I would absolutely trust both churches to care for and nurture your boys. Also, Joshua Baptist has their own christian school ... Good luck to you and God Bless you and your family.
I'll add - if you decide to attend JBC send me a message for which day you'll be attending and you are more than welcome to sit with me and my family!

I've got family that attends Alsbury Baptist in Burleson and love it. I've gone there for a couple of things and it's a really comfortable church. I noticed they had quite a few kids of all ages around also.

I'll plug Altamesa church of Christ (along with my friend Valisa!). The church has an awesome children's program that my 4yo and 2yo really enjoy. The womens' and mens' ministries are really developing and there has always been a strong sense of family there. My favorite thing right now is that the church is really growing in its desire to interact with the lower income neighbors that surround the church, to engage them in activities and just show them that we care about them. There are lots of opportunities to attend various "church" activities: Sunday morning classes and services, Sunday evening activities (including JAM specifically for the kids), Wednesday evening View (contemporary worship service), Journey Groups (small groups centered around a specific topic) that meet at different times during the week, Ladies' Retreat, Mens' Prayer breakfasts, etc. www.altamesa.org if you'd like to check us out online prior to visiting in person.
