Looking for a Venue in Dallas/Plano Area for a Big Thanksgiving Gathering

My large extended family would like to get together for Thanksgiving this year but we are having trouble finding a place to rent. We'd prefer something that is indoors and kid-friendly and perhaps next to a park or somewhere we can toss a football around. I've already looked into Winfrey Point and Big Thicket at White Rock Lake and they are already booked. I'm unfamiliar with other places in the area - any thoughts?

What can I do next?

Have you checked into Recreation Centers? Most of these are at a park, but I don't know if they rent out for Thanksgiving. I am not sure if you must be a resident of the city where the Rec Center is or not. I would check Richardson, Plano and Garland. These all have nice Rec Centers that are in a park setting.

Try the Cooper Guest Lodge. http://www.cooperguestlodge.com. They have banquet rooms, excellent food, very nice rooms if anyone needs to stay from out of town, and their grounds are beautiful!

Or what about the Dallas Arboretum? I don't know what they have going on for Thanksgiving dinner, but probably something, and there isn't anyplace more beautiful outdoors in Dallas!

you could try the Ranch House at Austin Ranch - it has a large back yard area and such. www.austinranch.com
