I am looking for a pediatrician in the Allen, Frisco, McKinney, Plano area that specializes in children that are adopted. Does anyone know of a Dr. that does that? Thanks!
We love Dr. Marcy Berry -- ###-###-####. She is at the northwest corner of Custer and Spring Creek in Plano. She herself has adopted children.
I love Dr. D at North Dallas Pediatrics. A good friend of mine has 2 of her 3 children that were adopted. She really enjoyed his willingness to help with court records and such when needed. He has offices in Plano, Frisco, and Dallas.
We love Dr. Sickler at Willow Bend Pediatrics in Plano. I have a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old and she is wonderful!
Have you contacted Children's Med? They have a adoptive child ped resource. I too am adopting. Are you doing domestic or international?
We use Willowbend Pediatrics for our 3 kids. We have seen all but 1 one of the doctors and have not had a bad experience.

I take my 2 adopted daughters to Dr. Laurie Berger in Plano at the Plano Presbyterian Medical Center. She is great with the girls. I don't know of anyone that specializes in adoption but I do like this group.

Both of our boys are adopted and Dr. Katz in Plano has always been great! With both boys we have minimal birthfamily history, but he has always worked with what we have and done a good job calming my fears. Good luck with the adoption!

Is your little one from another country or have special issues? We have a great adoption support group with parents of little ones from different countries as well as domestic and I'm sure they would be happy to share physician names with you. We were blessed through adoption and our daughter's pediatrician is Dr. Michael Frank at Willowbend Pediatrics. There are other doctors there as well.

Being Adopted myself, I've never heard of any dr. that specializes in adopted children. On the family history section, make sure you only fill in that they are adopted and if you know any med. history from the birth parents. As I have "matured" my doctors have any test a little earlier that for most people. I don't have any medical history on myself at all and very little on my ex-husband who is no longer around. good luck! Adoption is a wonderful experience, both for the parents and the child. Always be open for questions about birth parents as they get older, it is only natural curiosity. Just give enought information to answer their question, not too much. Let them guide you.
Hi first of all let me say congratulations on your adoption journey! whether it is domestic or international it is a wonderful journey! I am adopted & have an adopted daughter both of us from Korea. I know what you are talking about when you say an adoption specialist. It is more just a dr. who knows what to look for when they read over the childs paperwork etc. I never used one with my daughter but she did not have any special needs so I didn't feel the need. I take all 3 of my children ages 8 - 3 to Dr. McDonald who is a partner w/ Dr. Katz (mentioned by another post). They are both wonderful! My first son was a 25 weeker preemie & when he was in the nicu I asked the nurses who they would recommend & they all said Dr. McDonald or Katz and most of them took their children there. He even let me come in early before hours so not to expose my child to other children. I highly recommend him. Good luck with everything! Willowbend Pediatrics in Plano has been great. I never wait more than a couple minutes & the staff is very friendly. My 3 yr old & 1 mo. go to Dr. Susan Sickler. She has 3 kids & has always been informative & attentive.

My husband and I just adopted a little girl from Russia. We have a wonderful doctor in Dallas that we were referred to by our adoption agency. Here are the names of some other doctors who specialize in international adoption - they may also be able to refer you to a doctor who specializes in domestic adoption if you need that.
