Looking for a birthday cake for my turning 4yr. old son. Something tasty, attractive for the kids, and maybe whipped cream or cream cheese icing. Oh yeah with a reasonable price tag. LOL Thanks alot!

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone! The cake was awesome! Even the parents on DIET's couldn't get enough! LOL We ended up with a "Thomas the Train" top half chocolate botton half vanilla with fresh strawberry filling and whipped cream icing from Publix! YUMMY! We settled for 1/4 sheet which ran around $35 and it gave 13 kids and 15 adults about a 2"x3" piece. I'm sure if we'd have gotten a 1/2 sheet it would've been gone too! The parents were having a hard time keeping their' forks out of their' kids plate's! LOL Thanks again everyone!

We've always had good luck with cakes from the Publix bakery. They are awesome! But I see you moved here from Florida -- so you know! The buttercream frosting is to die for! Much better than the whipped crisco-and-sugar frosting at other places -- blech!

Publix! They make the best cakes in town at a reasonable cost. I am confident that you will not be dissapointed.

Hi K.,

I like Publix Bakery and Sam's Bakery. Both taste good, but at Sam's you get a bigger cake for you money. You can add filling if you choose at either store!

Good Luck and much success!

Publix and Carvel! Publix is definitely more affordable and their cake is awesome! Carvel rocks, but they're definitely more expensive.

Publix! They make the best cakes! They aren't "cheap" but they aren't as expensive as a stand-alone bakery. I always buy Publix cakes for our birthdays.

I agree with the other responses: Publix is my first choice. Mcintyre's is fabulous too, but you'll probably pay more than at Publix.

We've always been happy with the cakes from Publix. However, for the last several years, we've been going with Carvel ice cream cakes.

Definitely Publix. Yes, they might be a little more ($27 for a cake (12x18-4" high) but OMG it is SCRUMPTOUS! Their buttercream cake with buttercream frosting is the best cake I have ever eaten! Even the skinniest most weight conscious girls in my department have no willpower against Publix cake!
