Try freecycle.com ... you can find a the "city"/"area" near you and post on there...at least I think they would let you post animals. The postings are on Yahoo groups.
My kids found a stray cat and wanted to keep it. Over all she's a really good cat but a couple of weeks after making herself at home she had kittens. As much as we would love to keep them we can't keep all five. The problem is we have no clue how to begin to find them homes. My hubby put a listing on craigs list but it was quickly removed since apparently they don't allow pet listings. We dont really have the extra money to keep running ads in the paper. Any suggestions on how to find these little guys homes would be greatly appriciated.
Thank you all for the helpfull tips. I finally got a listing to stick on craigs list by adding a $1 "rehoming fee". I also tried to list them on freecycle but it was removed the HEB freecycle does not allow pet listings. Still no takers :( Tomorrow we are going to hit all of the vets and pet stores in the area. Thank you all again!

What do they look like, and how old are they? My daughter really wants a kitten, but I wouldn't take one who was taken from the mom under 16 weeks, cause the mom teaches them to use the litter box, etc.
Hi! The exact same thig happened to us 10 years ago when we lived in Alaska. I just didn't have the heart to send the cat back out into the snow! A few weeks later she presented us with kittens! At the time we could only have one pet in our apartment, so we had to keep the babies hidden until they were old enough to leave the mommy! We made up flyers and put them in Vet offices, grocery stores (most have bulletin boards at the front), we sent e-mails to friends in the area, asking them to pass it along to their friends. When the time came for them to go we had homes for all but one. One of the families heard that we had a "spare" and took him too, so it all worked out. We kept the kittens with the mother for the full 8 weeks, so my daughter became quite attached to them. To help with the separation we took photos of her with the kittens and made a little album for her, which she still has. Incidentally, we still have the mommy, along with 2 more previously stray cats and 2 stray dogs! They must see us coming!! Good luck.
I'd steer clear of CL on this one.....
My opinion would be posting at vet offices, Petco, Petsmart and places where you know animals are cared for.
Does your have an HOA? I know HOA is a love/hate type of things, however, one positive we have is a neighborhood website where you can post things like this.
Hi! You can go to freecycle.org, sign up and try there. We have given puppies way through freecycle. You can even given away just about anything on there or even request what you might want or need. It's a very safe site and is monitored at all times. Good luck.
goto walmart or a grocery store and sit out front and give them away for free. sure you will have them gone by a few hours.
Make up some flyers and take them to local vet offices, most have bulletin boards for this purpose.
If you can't get to a vets office to post of a flyer you could always just ask the nearest gas station/convenience store if you can put one up. I see those all the time and when people are standing in line and get bored they'll most likely read it!
Yes - take a picture of the kittens and make a flyer. Put at all vets and feed stores, community centers, groomers and any store that has a board like racetrac, gebos, agmart, Send the same to all pet sitters. They may know of someone who would like one or two and sometimes all if they are to be barn cats.
Take the to Richardson Animal Shelter. The are an adopt-a-pet place and it's free to you to leave them. That's where we adopted our cat.
Same thing happened to us!!! BUt she only had 2 kittens.....I have 3 now.... Did you send an email out to all your friends? Email me pictures and I will forward them out to my friends! ____@____.com
Good luck!

Go to Wal-mart and sit in the parking lot with a sign that says free kittens. People do it all the time.
CL does allow pet listings - you just can't put them for sale. Here's what it says:
Partial list of items for sale and services the advertisement of which is not permitted on craigslist:
Household pets of any kind including but not limited to dogs, cats, primates, cage birds, rodents, reptiles, amphibians, fish. Re-homing with small adoption fee OK.
Frisco Online may be another place to try (http://www.frisco-online.com/forums/).
Usually Vet clinics have a bulletin board for pet announcements...try making a few flyers and popping into the Vet clinics in your area to see if they will allow you to post there. Good luck!
Hi A.,
Yes Craig's listings has a area for posting animals. Clink on Pets under the Community listing. Also I would suggest posting at a vet/pet store. I got my kitten through Craig's and found that most of the time the kittens where already taken before I could reply.
Best Regards,
C.
I've heard of a site called freecycle.com
Craigs List does allow pets. There is a specific area just for that, and it's very active. We got our black lab from a family that listed there.
You just can't sell animals, although they will allow a small "re-homing fee". Since kittens are so abundant, I wouldn't recommend that. You just want them to have a good home.
there is a place in dallas that takes cats and adopts them out. They do not put them to sleep I think the name is kittyco, I am not for sure but I found a box of kittens in dallas last year and they took them to care for and find a good home.I got their number from pets mart. Good luck
Most of the Petsmarts have programs to help animal adoptions - especially cats and dogs. You might check with your local store and see how to get involved. Also a local SPCA would work.
I know someone who might want one.. where are you located? can you email me pics... ____@____.com

Try posting them on here. They have had animals on there before. I know that you can also take them to the SPCA and they will find them homes.
Good luck!
