I did with my first. They never mentioned it, I could just feel the dr wiping my butt--that was weird. It happens.
So, I'm due to deliver my third baby any day now and I've been wondering.....how many women actually poop while giving birth? I didn't with my first two deliveries, and I'm just curious how common this really is?

I remember when it was time to start pushing with my first son and the doctor told me, "NOW PUSH!" and I thought I was pushing pretty hard and he looked up at me and asked me why I wasn't pushing. I told him that I didn't want to fart on him. I soooo clearly remember his eyeballs coming up and looking over my big ol' belly and telling me to PUSH! I know that moms poop and fart and pee and make all kinds of funny noises! Labor is NOT beautiful, the end result is!

I did when I had my daughter--me and my hubby laugh about it now =) I couldn't have cared less at that moment--all I cared was that they get the baby out--I was in pain! If the doctor had told me that taking a dump in the middle of the hospital lobby would have sped things along, I would have done it in a heartbeat, lol. . . .so no worries either way.
My Dr. told me woman don't usually know when they do and Dr.s wouldn't/don't say anything.
I just had my son 5 days ago. I was not medicated, so I was able to walk around, and I felt the urge to sit up when I was first ready to push. My midwife knew that baby had a little ways to go yet, so she suggested I sit on the toilet to push for a while. It felt good, and I made a lot of progress sitting up with my legs spread, using gravity to bring baby down. But while I was pushing, we heard a few little plunks in the toilet. The nurse actually encouraged me. She was like "good job, you're doing it right"....Hehe I wasn't embarrassed in the least.
I didnt with my first but did with my second and I knew it... I told my husband "omg, I just sh*t on the table!" Of course your butt isnt exactly on the table when you are in the push position so I guess it went into a "toxic waste" container or somethin?
Not having an epidural give you senses of everthing going on, crappy or not :)
I didn't when I delivered, but I asked the doctor one time and they said its common and not to worry if you do- they just take care of it and don't mention anything to you at all- it shows your pushing correctly!( lol).

I did and would not know if my husband hadn't told me months later (the doc and nurses never said a word). I certainly didn't notice, had other things on my mind :)
Lol--lucky you! I wasn't so lucky--it would have been embarassing if I wasn't unmedicated and mostly oblivious.
I didn't with the first, but did with the second. I knew the minute it happened and apologized. The nurse was awesome and said it happens to everyone- most don't even know it. Maybe she was just saying that to make me feel better...who knows!
I did when i had my S.. They dont tell you if you did. My husband told me weeks later that I did. Before I had him I worried about that. What if i do? OMG it will be embarrassing. But going through the labor pains and everything else to think about that didnt cross my mind at all when the time came.
This is very common. You are useing the same muscles to push the baby out that you would use to poop. It’s not a big deal, it happen to a lot of woman when giving birth.
I didn't with my son, although I was worried about it. Soooooo not worried enough to deal with an enema at the beginning of labor (like used to be the practice). Nope. I'll take pooping while pushing anytime over the alternative.
I didn't with my first two, either. :) I thought I had, but they said no.
Years later I was told by my husband that I did a little bit with my second. But I didn't with my first or third that I am aware of. It was never mentioned at all so I'm going to go with I didn't.
Nothing was made of it by anyone there.
i just wanted to pipe up that the nurses i had used a warm washcloth on the whole area down there to get me to stretch adn i assume to clean me up. She kept switching for a new one and I have to say i didn't care at all be cause i was in pain and it helped to make it hurt less having a warm compress there.
I asked both times, and was told "no," but I was worried about it too! With my first I was relieved because about half way through labor, I had to take a huge dump (sorry -gross I know), so I went to the bathroom like usual. That evidently saved me from a "poop" incident when I was pushing! I have a really good friend who pooped though and they took care of it very fast and easy. I do know that many women have mild diarrhea when they start labor or immediately before going into labor and I've read in a number of pregnancy books that it's kind of nature's way to clean you out before all the pushing! Of course this doesn't happen to everyone -it never happened to me.
I did.. the nurses took care of it..
I did not even realize it..
I had 2 births and never did it
I did it with my 1st and I knew it when it happened!! If I did with my 2nd and 3rd I didn't know.
Honestly unless you had really long labors (like 24+ hours) and they didn't let you eat then you probably did and they just didn't tell you. No woman wants to hear that they pooped in front of a room full of people! My husband says he doesn't remember that I did with my first, but it was almost 36 hours long and I only got liquids... I most definately did with my second.
I had heard that this happens, but maybe it depends on the stage of your digestion at the time.
I did with both of mine
You probably already have, and just don't know it. Like so many of the others, I wouldn't have known if my husband didn't tell me.
i repeatedly pooped. they put flat diapers under my bottom and wiped and threw them away each time. I truly was too tired to be embarrassed and they acted like it was totally normal. i don't know how someone doesn't poop when you are pushing???
Thats funny because I was obsessed with this happening. I became really anxious about possibly pooping. I had no problems..thank goodness.
Oh my God, lol. I'm gonna totally ask my husband when he gets home! I've never thought about it before. Lmbo!
