Keeping Baby Warm in Chicco Car Seat

i love the look and idea of the JJ Cole Bundle Me product, however I have a Chicco car seat and I read in reviews that the Bundle Me does not fit a Chicco. Are there any Chicco owners out there and what did you do to keep your baby warm in the cold weather? Are there any products you favored?

What can I do next?

I have a peg perego and run into the same problem with the bundle me, so i am going to buy this. You wont be able to use the sun shade, but i think this is the best choice otherwise.

We bought a generic one at WalMart or Babies RUs to go over the whole thing. Take off the canopy for starters- will not work with that on. The one we use has fleece on the inside and is black on the outside, elastic around the top of the carseat and then a velcro window for baby. We always prewarmed the car and really, the kids overheated more often than not anyway so the cover would come off in long rides.

We came home from the NICU and were advised NOT to use anything between baby and straps which I thought the JJ Cole version does... also, as cute as snowsuits are we found them worthless since they make the car seat straps useless in an accident...unless you have a walker how often will you be outside with baby in one of those too?

Good luck!

NoJo! Loved it! Shower cap style so no strap interference, fit the Keyfit perfectly! DD would peek out of the hole and grin like an idiot. Worked really well for us.

Ours only had one zipper and that was fine. Usually just took the whole thing off when I took her out. It was easy enough to use. Remember only a thin fleece so not to interfere with the fit of the straps.

I have a Chicco baby car seat, and I just use the fleece baby seat covers (google peek-a-boo baby seat cover if you don't know what they look like). I've just bought both mine online from etsy or wherever (homemade). About $20. Seen them at Walmart, etc. also. They have the flap to open when in the car, and to flap down when out of the car if it's cold or windy. Not sure what the Bundle Me product is exactly. Good luck!

Technically, you're not supposed to put anything but the clothes on baby's back (not a winter coat, a bunting, etc) between baby and the seat. It compromises the straps' ability to hold the child to the seat in the event of accident. Of course, many winter buntings, like the JJ Cole one, are designed to be like a sleeping bag and hold the child around the straps. Although I love the look of the JJ Cole, I bought one that was much, much cheaper--it's got elastic around the outside, you just stretch it over the seat. It fits every seat, because it just goes around the outside. It was a little tricky with my Chicco, because of the way the sun shade is attached, but it was not a problem. I found mine on amazon; it is like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Cozy-Seat-Microfiber-Fleece-Cover-/... I got mine in a neutral brown, not knowing the gender of baby (plus it matched our seat). We live way up north in MN, and it kept our newborn wonderfully warm--so warm that on our long trips to WI and SD, we had to take it off, or under-dress her a bit. I'm going to miss that thing this winter--she's big enough for a toddler seat and it's so hard to keep her warm now!

Ok--I'm going back and reading responses--I'm totally laughing at all the people who suggest a blanket, or heating your car...folks, this is not for IN the car so much as transporting your baby--she lives in Green Bay--it's cold there in the winter for her baby!!! :)

I had a Chicco and used it with no problem but my car seat was from 2008. Not sure if something has changed. I absolutely loved the JJ Cole. I know they recommend not using them but my son was strapped in well...if anything more secure...and living in MN it was nice not to have to try to get him bundled up to go out. And I agree...for those of you in the south...it gets COLD here. Heat in a car isn't the answer when you have to run around and transport your kid.

It fit in ours just fine...that was a 6 years ago model. I don't know if the fittings have changed since then.

I used a thing that fit OVER the carseat. I think it was called Kidpottamous. It would fit any seat, and I like it because nothing comes between baby and seat. It also was nice because it fit more snugly than the bundle me over the baby, including over her head. And if it was extra cold, I could slip a blanket under the cover for another layer. Also, I could unzip it in the car, so she wasn't hot in the car.
Recommend it highly.

I always used a coat and blanket. hope someone can help ya out, just remembered about the seat covers that go over the actual seat there is elastic around the edges so it can stretch around the outside of the seat that worked with all my kids and it was very easy to deal with cuz there are zippers to open the front up and let you access baby and straps

I live in CA, so cold weather isn't a problem - a blanket was always enough here. I just want to share one very important thing that I have heard and read many times...
Don't put a heavy coat on your baby before strapping him into a car seat. It makes it so the straps can't get tight enough because there is so much bulk between the baby's body and the straps. So make sure you get some thick blankets or these other products and put them on over the straps to keep your baby safe.

Nuzzler. Google it and you should be able to find it. Much nicer than the cheapo ones at Walmart. Works great for rain too.

Gosh, we had a heater in the car. If it's comfortable for me it was supposed to be the right temp for the baby, I never wear a coat in the car while I am driving. I don't know how to keep a baby warm if the heater doesn't work. Maybe you could put a blanket in the dryer on low for a few minutes right before you take them out to put them in. If you put it in the car sear for a few minutes before the baby then it would be warm on the baby's back when they laid down in it. Then you could just put the blanket over the baby's feet and legs.
