K. Fire users...what Do I Need? Which Do I Want?

I've never owned a technie gadget...the closest I've ever come is a tracfone (yup.) I've been a computer junkie for two complete decades now...(total computer nerd in high school, etc), but I've never been able to afford something like a Kindle or an IPad.

So, I've come into some extra money in my Amazon account, and am considering purchasing a Fire.

I want to know...what are your favorite things to do with it? What can it NOT do that you wish it could? Which version do you have and/or prefer? How much memory does yours have, and is it sufficient? What about typing...is it easy? What apps do you like?

Basically, want shared stories because I know nothing about it!! Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

My kids all got Fires last Christmas. They love them. They use them for reading, watching movies, and games. Best investment ever. We also have Prime and it's worth every penny!

The new one looks bigger and has a great camera on it (my take from the commercials). Maybe go into a local store and see? I know Best Buy was selling the older one when it came out, so you could actually go in and play with it and see if you liked it.

I have a Kindle Fire. My son and share it. We both read, watch movies/TV shows, and play games on it. The Amazon Prime membership has been super worthwhile for me (we don't have cable or Netflix or anything) so I can watch a ton of stuff for free.

I have had it a year almost and still have memory left. I do not use it for email or facebook because the screen is too small for my old eyes when you get on a normal website. You can zoom in but then the screen view is limited. Typing on it is also not pleasant if you are accustomed to a regular keyboard.

I wish that it had "folders" for sorting books. I would like a way to sort my books from my son's books and also to better sort genres that I own. I also wish that you could play movies in different languages.

My hubby has the original because he likes to read. I have the Kindle Fire and play games, get on facebook, read cookbooks, listen to music and watch videos. The new K Fire looks awesome with the camera. It depends what you want to do. If you have enough splurge on the latest with the camera.

My husband has an iPad and I have a Fire. I would have to say that I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything, except a bigger screen. When traveling, our two kids will swap back and forth between the two without any big complaints - which I think is a REALLY big deal! The new Fires with camera might be a nice bonus, I am not very informed on what they have all updated, but I'm still very happy with mine and I really think it is a good value for the price!
