It's fine! You are well out of the 1st trimester, so it's ok. My Dr. gave me the go ahead when I was 4 mos. along. I had no problems at all. Just be in a well ventilated room.

Books that I've read said no, abut some say as long as it's not at your root where the chemicals are absorbed. Personally, if I can't color all my hair to the roots, why bother. I'm 26 and have greys since I was 18. My first child, I just had my hair down so my greys underneith wouldn't be seen. I now have more and I just have to suck it up till may when my next child is born. I say, ask your doctor before you take anyone's advice. It truly depends on your pregnancy and how you are doing. Good luck and let me know, maybe I'll ask my doctor cause I have this long shily hair with grey highlights...ewww. Lol. ;)

The question, of course, is whether or not it will take.

For most women (unless they're bleaching, and sometimes even then), the color just simply doesn't take when they're pregnant... or it takes in splotches.

My doctor said it was no prob, the only issue was that it might not have the normal result it has when I am not pregnant (with our body chemistry being all different or something like that). I'm going in next week (28 weeks). I too tried to hold off in the 1st and 2nd trimester, but apparently even that is not a big deal, my doctor told me to go for it months ago.

Henna is a safe natural way to dye your hair. However, if you don't want reddish hair, use a non-ammonia formula like a Clairol temporary color.

An even better question would be, what are you coloring your hair WITH? There's some concern in the alternative medical community about hair dyes being carcinogenic over the long term. And the commercial American products are particularly bad in terms of chemical content. Try Herbaceuticals Naturcolor from Italy; it's ammonia free and greatly reduces other toxic chemical content, too. It's available at Whole Foods.

I personally wouldn't do it, since there are a lot of nasty chemicals in that stuff, and they are touching your skin.

There are non toxic natural dyes, check out this link, http://www.thedailygreen.com/living-green/blogs/organic-p..., or just search online for non toxic hair dye.

When in doubt ask your doctor.
