Our water softener broke and, unfortunately, I disovered it when I found orange iron stains all over my cloth diapers and inserts :( Has this happened to anyone and how did you get them out safely?

What can I do next?

I don't know, but I am so impresed that you iron your cloth diapers. I don't even get to ironing their clothes let alone the diapers. GO Mommy!

I don't think you can remove them. I have iron in my water and I haven't found anything that takes the orange stains out. Greased Lightening works on my clothes, but I'm petrified to try it on my cloth diapers. Rockin' Green makes a detergent specifically for hard water. You can also use Calgon Water Softener. You might try contacting someone at Rockin' Green. They are absolutely amazing at laundry solutions.

my grandma says that they used to get stains out of diapers by boiling them, the super hot water got them out...not sure if this will work but it might

I've read the best way to get stains out of cloth diapers is to lay them out in the sun to dry. I occasionally will add some bleach to the second wash cycle, but that is because the instructions say I can. I know a lot of cloth diaper manufacturers say not to add any extra additive to washing. If you havent already try doing a search online for cloth diaper stains.
