I accidentally washed and dried a ball-point pen in a load of laundry and now there are ink spots on most of our good clothes! Any special way to get the ink out?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone! I tried the hairspray and it worked well for almost all the spots! I have to try again tomorrow (heading to work) on a few of the bigger stains that are left, but I'm confident I can get them out!

I used to work in an office and got ink on my clothes plenty of times.
Hairspray works like a charm, as a matter of fact as you spray it on you will literally see the ink start to disolve. The only problem I can see you having is that you say you already dried the clothes. If it was in a dryer...it may be harder to get out. Still try the hairspary....it won't hurt and will wash out easy. Just don't keep putting the clothes in the dryer...it will just set in the stain more.

Try spraying them with hair spray and than let them sit for about 5 min and wash like normal. If this does not work do not dry and soak in really hot water with some OXY Clean. Soak them all day and try again

Hi I just read to use vinegar. Put it on a sponge and blot the ink spot, you may have to do it several times until the ink comes out onto the sponge.

Good luck, hope it works!

I've had great experience with hairspray.. just spray a good amount on and wash.. if anything is left do not dry you can try again or hang it outside in the sun on a good sunny day.. The sun takes just about anything out..

I don't know if it will work with ink that has been dried and set into the fabric, but soaking a fresh ink stain in milk will remove ink. I usually will soak it overnight and then apply a stain stick to the stain before I wash it.

Flush the area straight on with rubbing alcohol and the ink will come out. This also works on hard surfaces too. Go to www.queenofclean.com for other stain removing tips.
