My 2 1/2 year old got hold of a blue Expo dry erase marker and got it all over her clothes. I have tried scrubbing it down with several different things. Does anyone know how I can get this out?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for the great suggestions. I tried the Totally Awsome Stain Remover from the Dollar Tree and it worked great. Thanks again!

I have two tricks for hard to remove spots-

1) Spray with a liquid stain remover and then sprinkle on OxyClean Versatile- the kind that does NOT contain bleach. Let it sit for 15 minutes or so then wash.

2) LA's Totally Awesome has taken permanent marker out of clothes that I had given up on. Seriously. The stain had been in the shirt for 2 years or so and came out. I found this spray at Dollar General, I think. One of the dollar stores, anyway. The clear bottle with yellow liquid inside works better than the Lavender scented in the purple bottle.

A key to stain removal (in case you don't know): ALWAYS air dry until you are SURE the stain is out, otherwise the heat of the dryer will set the stain. I have washed and air dried things several times over the course of a week just to get a stain out of something. It almost becomes a mission! LOL

Try hairspray. The cheaper the hairspray, the better it tends to be at removing ink. Spray, spray, spray, see if the ink starts to run a bit, if so, spray some more and then imediately wash it. Don't dry it until you've checked for ink. If there's more ink, spray more hairspray.

I hate ink in clothes! My daughter stuck a marker in a pocket, and I didn't find it until AFTER drying a big load that had half of my clothes and all of her dress clothes... UGH!

HTH, and good luck!

I've gotten ink out of clothes before with hair spray. Saturate the spot with hair spray, and wash in COLD water.

Rubbing alcohol sometimes works on ink as well.

Sol-u-mel will get it right out! I have personaly used it to remove permenent marker, grease, nail polish and stickers all from fabric and leather. I also heard it took hot pink nail polish out of white carpet.

This product is enviromently friendly it is made of isopropal alcohol and melaleuca oil and doesn't require a child proof cap. It is very simple to use you just apply, let sit and then rinse.

This company also makes a product called Pre-Spot. It is also eco friendly and therefore family friendly. You spay this on the stain and let it sit for about five minutes, then rub the fabric together then rinse. I sometime have to repeat, but it will remove the stain. I have used this to remove ink pen, grass stains, salsa, pasta sauces (both alfredo & marinara), dog food, and blood.

It also doesn't seem to matter if I put it through the dryer before removing the stain. I did have to let one shirt sit for an hour with the remover on it after I had put it throught the dryer, but it got it out.

You can order it on-line or over the phone from a company called Melaleuca. If you are not already shopping with them I can show you how to get started. It is super simple to shop with them and they have a money back garuntee on everything, even thier membership.
