I am looking to get rid of an extra 10lbs. How do I get a hold of the Weight Watchers books that explain the points and all that stuff w/o joining.

Hi J.,
I live in Oak Park and am going to join WW next week. I've done it before and lost 20 lbs. But, because of my love for food, I eventually gained it back AND had a baby. My goal is lose about 15 or 20 lbs.
I agree with the other woman who encouraged going to the meetings. Although you only have 10 lbs to lose, they really motivated me and I felt like I was not alone. I know that some people are just not 'meeting' people. I can try to purchase an extra kit for you when I join next week. They may only give the starter materials to people who join, but it's worth a shot. Or, if you'd like, you're welcome to join me at the meeting! My plan is to go either this Sunday morning at 9am, Monday at 7pm or Wednesday at 7pm. The WW is in Oak Park on Madison, near Harlem. Even if you don't want to continue going to meetings, it's so inspirational to hear success stories and get new recipes.
Good luck / E.
Right now it is free registration so you only pay the weekly fee. This is almost over according to all the stuff I have heard on TV and all. The first meeting will be about $12 and you will leave with all the goodies to get you going! It is a very easy program to follow. Go to Weightwatchers.com to find out where a meeting is near you.
You could also go in and just purchase a point calculator. You would enter all your foods you are going to eat and it will calculate the total points for that item. I use that instead of the slider when I am grocery shopping since I was having people stop me and ask Ohhhhhhhh you are on WW?!?! Now they just think I am adding the price to a calculator as I shop.
Good luck and blessings to you!
I swear by WW... and the 2nd time I did it, to lose baby weight, I just went online to weightwatchers.com to their shopping/merchandise section and purchased the AT HOME kit, it was $99. You can also purchase items that you need separately as well (ex. point counter, tracker). Good luck!
you do not need that stuff. you can go online and buy the kit, a caculator and there is a website called dotti's weight loss zone that can help.
A lot of times they run specials where your first meeting is only like $25 which includes the books and getting started and you don't ever have to go back. If you'd like, I can help you determine your individual points and if you visit the website www.dwlz.com they have a LOT of information and recipes as well as point values. It's a great system and easy to follow! It worked for me! Please let me know if you need any help!
J.,
I have been on WW for 10 weeks now and have lost 12 lbs! I really like the program and it fits my lifestyle perfectly. Keep in mind that if you have the points calculator or slide rule, you still have to figure out how many points you should be eating and that changes with weight loss, activity level and age. I really encourage you to try going to the meetings and doing the entire program. I didn't think I'd like the meetings but I really enjoy them! If nothing else, it's 30-60 minutes out of my house and a break from the kids!
