I am due in May 2013, a first time mom, and have been told that I need to get on the waiting list for childcare as soon as possible. I have only lived in the Dallas area for about a year and half and do not have family or friends in the area with kids to collect references. So I thought I would reach out on this website. If anyone has any referrals or recommendations for infant care I would greatly appreciate it!
I would prefer an in-home daycare or small center that is near the Dallas Tollroad between Plano and Preston Center.
Please let me know if you have any recommendations or first hand experience...........this process is so overwhelming in such a big city.
Thanks!!!!!

My son attended Creme de la Creme in Plano off of Plano Parkway just a little off of the Dallas North Tollway; he attended from 9 months until pre-kindergarten. There were slight bumps in the road throughout that time but overall i would recommend Creme; they do have a great program there and the teachers he had (he is 7 now) were all very caring.
Before Creme de la Creme, he was at a TLC day care center but contracted RSV and had to be put into the hospital; we didn't take him back there; Creme was nicer, better place altogether and worth the $.
Good luck, i know it can be overwhelming!
Congratulations! I do not live in your area but I used to work in a daycare center. It looks like there is a resource online called www.thechildcaresource.com/. Another important item: start thinking about questions to ask. How much a week, what you you need to provide, pay for vacations, experience/schooling of workers, what do you expect/ratio of infant-children to worker, calls to check on baby, etc. It's easier to have your questions written ahead of time. Also, once you narrow your search, you should be allowed to visit. I would have potential parents come and hang out to ask questions. Good luck. It's a highly important decision. Take your time. I'm sure when you find the right person, it will feel right (or that's what I was told by my parents).
Being an in home day care, I would suggest Che king care.com and the state site for listings. Look up Texas department of families and children, or something like that. They have a listing of registered, licensed and listed day cares. A listed home does not go through inspections like the others, but they can only have a very small number of kids that are not related. Good luck.
This is a little south if Preston center but not too far. We use Park Cities Day School at Mockingbird and Inwood. We've been there for 2 years now as my 2nd will start going there in March. It's a small simple school, one building with one class for ech age. The people who work there are wonderful and loving. Send me a message if you want more info.
I am an in home daycare in Allen and belong to an association, http://www.pickofnorthtexas.com is the website. You are looking early. I currently have openings but I would have to charge you to retain a spot. I would suggest looking closer to when the baby is due and then make a final decision after the baby is here and you are ready to make a comment to someone. Good Luck in your search.
