What does his attorney say? Most Courts have a designated clinic and won't accept "do it yourself" paternity tests.
Does anyone know where a friend of mine may be able to have a paternity test performed free of cost ? He expecting to arrive in court soon but had doubts before seeking full custody. Your positive and helpful response will be appreciated

He should ask the court what they will accept.
It might be that they don't accept results from all tests or they require a specific test.
Generally, if you need test results to stand up in court - it's going to be a fairly expensive test.

He should have a lawyer. His lawyer should be able to tell him from what company the courts will accept the tests from.
If it's "Soon"?? Maybe he should have been more proactive at this point? Does he think the child is his??

what does his lawyer say? i would ask them what tests the courts accept or use.
i doubt that the court will accept that free paternity test. if he wants to be a full time parent, a good place to start would be for HIM to contact the court and find out what is actually and legally required.
and to pay for it.

I suggest you don't need an attorney if you are the father and will accept paternity in court. If you aren't the father, court will so rule. If you were legally married when baby was born, the law says you are the legal father even tho a paternity test says otherwise.
You can call the court to find out which tests are accepted. In Oregon a do it yourself test won't be accepted. I doubt there are free tests available.
He should work with the court to request a court ordered paternity test.
