Hi Moms,
I am looking for suggestions on an inexpensive umbrella stroller that is well-made and not flimsy like some of the cheap ones out there, but i dont want to spend like a $100 on one either. i have a nice larger stroller, but looking for a compact umbrella one for trips to mall or zoo, etc..... Are they any well-made ones out there with okay storage space that will not fall apart easily but are inexpensive?
Thanks!

WalMart sells one made by "Jeep" that's pretty nice for $40. You can read about it on their website. I actually ordered mine online and picked it up at the store. It's a taller one, steers well, has a small sun shade, storage pouch, and cup holder. I'm happy with it!

No bells or whistles, toys'r us or babies'r us has one for $20. I have had mine for 4 years and it's been through 2 kids. Still sturdy and goes great. It has a sun shane and a little mesh pocket. both of my kids were off the charts for height and weight and my son who is now 2.5 years still rides in it on occasion and it works great still.

cm, i got the one from toys r us (i think it's about $20) and LOVE IT. i am not a bells-and-whistles kind of mom, and this is the most basic umbrella stroller i could find. my son has always been in the 97th percentile for height and weight, and it held up fine. although, he also walked at 9 months so we probably didn't use it 'as long' as we might have with another child. my son is now a rambunctious 3 year old almost 4 ft tall and 42 lbs, and we haven't used it in awhile, but i am almost certain if we ever had to, it would still hold up. good luck! you can sure drop a lot of money on something you'll only use a year or two!

i just got a GREAT one this past weekend. Got it at Burlington Coat Factory in the Baby Depot. It was 39.99 but it has storage, and little cup holder off to the side, and even has shade cover. the wheels are NOT plastic! (one thing i hate about cheep umbrella strollers is the plastic wheels) do you have a Burlington locally to you? if not... check out the website. if you want more info... you can PM me

I know it is close to your $100 mark, but I love the Chicco Capri Stroller ($84 at Babies'R'Us, $70 other places). We have used it for almost 5 years and my 3 year old still rides in it when I can't handle the constant requests to be "uppie". My son is big for his age (very tall) and was well able to fit in it until he didn't need a stroller anymore. It is light-weight and folds up easily. Sun shade, mesh basket underneath (not huge but ok size), durable material. I have even had friends borrow it for trips because they do not like their own umbrella strollers.

I would look at the Chicco strollers. We have had one for about 4 years and it has seen a lot of use and is in great condition. I got a great deal and paid about $50 for it. From what I can see, it's like a Maclaren, without the high price tag. Be warned that if you hang things from the handles and your child gets out, it will tip over (true of all umbrella strollers I've seen). The storage isn't great, but good for an umbrella stroller.

When it comes to strollers you get what you pay for. I have a Maclaren and if you are planning on having more children this stroller will definately last you plus it reclines, has storage, and a 5 point harnass, etc you can find them decent priced on craigslist plus babies r us has one model on sale right now.

When I was looking at strollers, I liked the Jeep stroller also. I wanted a lightweight, easy to fold one that we could take in the car with us. I think it was about $69 at Toys R Us/Babies R Us. When you do decide, check out for any recalls before buying. MacClaren was recalled recently for amputating fingers but I don't know if they have corrected the issue.

We bought the Evenflo Xsport stroller from Wal-Mart. I didn't see it on their website anymore, but it has mesh parts on the back that my son likes so he doesn't get so hot in it. But anyway, he is 4 years old and still likes riding in it at the mall, zoo, etc. Also has a sunshade and small basket. It runs around $40.
