All my down blankets and duvet covers fit the same way for me. I think that is just how they are supposed to be. The comforters and quilts hang over the sides.
I purchased a Duvet cover from Ikea, it was a Full/Queen and I have a Queen bed, but it does not hang to the bottom of my mattress, so now my sheets show. Has anyone purchased a Duvet Cover from them and does it do the same thing? Any ideas?

If I'm not mistaken, the Ikea bed & bedding sizes don't follow the standard twin-full-queen-king sizing. It's different. Is your Ned an ikea bed? If not, that's why it doesn't fit. Which is why I can't buy cute Ikea bedding!
We have a queen sized IKEA bed, and duvet. Our duvet fits like a normal duvet would. They are European, so their queen size, is not our queen size. If you have a queen bed bought here, that's probably why it fits the way it does.
Also, duvets aren't meant to "hang" like comforters and such.
I always put a King duvet on my Queen beds, just so that the sheets are covered. But that is my American learned 'bedspread' preference. The Europeans leave the sheets showing.
I suggest that IKEA may be willing to take it back and refund your money or let you exchange it for a king sized one.
In Europe we fluff the down comforter daily and lay it over the foot end to air out. We also have one per person, so the sheets show. But I buy mine at Lands End ($$ but very nice) or at Target.
Same here. My Ikea duvets and covers are smaller in both length and width than those I've bought elsewhere. Both twin and queen sizes. One thing you can do is pull the duvet down to cover the bottom of the bed and use pillows to hide the sheets at the top.
I have seen many that do that short sheeted thing! Makers try to cheep out and not put the size it needs to be. Never buy full/queen for a queen or queen/king for a king!
