I love the look of my flower set from target. I"m one that does not buy new bedding every 6 mo, but i couldn't resist the cuteness. she has had it a year and it been good, but I do'nt wash bedspread/quilts unless there is poop or puke on it.
I am looking for bedding for my 7 year old girl..I checked at Target and their stuff seemed really poorly made like it wouldnt survive once in the washing machine.. I am afriad to check pottery barn as their stuff is so cute and so expensive.. where would you look for decent kid bedding at a reasonable price.. I dont think I want to get a character as I hope this lasts for 4 or so years..

I've been on the look out for a long time and finally decided Bed bath and beyond had the best choices for my taste and price range. I also was shopping pottery barn kids, Target, Amazon and all kinds of things on-line.
Potterybarn is expensive but excellent quality and if you get on their email list, they do have sales and promotions. I also think Company Kids has some cute stuff. Not sure about the quality? I've never ordered from them.
Added: You could try TJ Maxx, too.
Ikea is a great place or Bed Bath and Beyond, or Overstock? Don't be afraid to check your consignment shops though. I just got my son a quilt and pillow sham that was Pottery Barn brand for $14.00.
Good luck~
Check out Amazon. Then you can read reviews to see how other people's experiences have gone with that particular item.
I have bedding from Ikea that has lasted for five years. I've bought bedding by checking reviews on Amazon. I bought sheets at JCPenney that I really like, and they feel even better after several washings. I really haven't had bad luck with bedding.
The Target bedding isn't incredibly soft, but it does hold up. I have a kids set from there that looks and feels almost exactly the same as it did when we purchased it two years ago. The other kids sheets I bought from Company Store are much better... but they were four times the price. So I say give Target a chance.
We got all our son's bedding from IKEA. We've had it for 3 years now, and it looks like when we bought it.
What are you looking for? We outfitted the sks for college from Target. You can also check out IKEA, KMart, Bed Bath and Beyond....
Come to think of it, a couple of our sets are Target. One is very soft. Check out several brands. I forget what brand our soft sheets are.
My son's bedding is Mainstays brand that I bought from Walmart. I've had it for three years now and it holds up very well. I also have a Mainstays regular set and a couple of jersey sets for my bed. They have all held up really well also. I think the bed in a bag (dust ruffle, comforter, 2 shams, 2 pillow cases, flat and fitted sheet) was about $40 for full/queen size. It'd probably be less for twin size.
We got our daughter's at Kohls on clearance and it's lasted 2 years so far and still looks great. We've bought her sheets at target and walmart as well with no problems.
Hi Lisa. I don't know that she is helpful to you or not, but I'll throw it out there. If you find that washing your daughter's bedding makes the inside padding bunch up, you can take the quilting out and put your own quilting material in it and resew it. I can't actually do that stuff on my own (LOL!), but my mom can. She saw my kids' comforters that were hand-me-downs from someone else whose kids had outgrown them. She didn't like how the padding was bunching up, so she re-did them for me. They lasted for 4 more years and I gave them to another mother who had younger kids. I'll bet she has passed them on to someone else by now.
So...if you can't find something that is great quality without spending a fortune (and it STILL might not be good quality), consider this alternative. I'm really grateful to my mom for it!!

As a Christmas gift my mother bought a new bedding set for my 5 year old daughter from Target. They had two options for the quilt, the comforter type with the filling that tends to bunch when you wash it, and then a more expensive better made quilt. She bought the better made quilt for her. I can tell that the quality is very good and it will last for a while. I think how well the bedding fits into the washer makes a big difference as far as wear and tear goes. The fluffier the comforter, the more likely it will get ruined in the washer. Both of our queen sized comforters are somewhat thin and have held up well in the wash. Both are bed in a bag types from different places. Both over four years old and I wash our bedding weekly.
You get what you pay for.....5 1/2 years ago I was looking for StarWars bedding. I wanted a duvet cover but saw a sheet set for about $10 less than the duvet cover they were offering. I bought the sheet set and made a duvet cover from the sheet and a flannel bottom, put the fitted sheet and pillowcase on the bed and off we went. The fitted sheet lasted until about 6 months ago (yes, 5 years) and then I used the parts from the fitted sheet that weren't falling apart to make a border for some curtains and added a plain fitted sheet from Target that already looks like it's getting worn out. The duvet cover still looks brand new.
In my mind, PB sheets are an investment, but they are very high quality and will last. Unless you plan on changing color often, I would go with the stuff that lasts.
I like JCP, Sears, Bed Bath Beyond........Kohls
The Company Store - Company Kids. There is a huge sale going on right now!!
I always buy our bedding from Pottery Barn--it is worth every penny! If you're on a budget, look at what they have on sale. Also, just buy the quilt and sham. You can go to Bed, Bath & Beyond and get solid sheets and a solid blanket.
I bought a duvet/comforter cover from Land of Nod and the actual duvet/comforter from Ikea (or Target etc). Very cute and has held up great in the wash. Same thing with Pottery Barn - the duvet covers are pretty reasonable and you can buy the comforter/duvet at a cheaper place.
Sheets quality depend on the weave of the fabric. Some lesser qualities will get those annoying little fabric balls that you see on sweaters.
Any department store will offer a wide variety of qualities. From bad to good, in other words. Meijers will surprise you sometimes. I've gotten towels from there that beat Kohl's hands down. So don't underestimate the store. Same with Target. Just research online what weave count to aim for and then go wherever you want and see if they have it.
