Hi,

I have been nauseas the past three weeks. I have been dry heaving and have vomited twice the first week. I also have been burping more often than usual too. I have gone to the doctor and he has given me 3 pregnancy test and they have all shown up negative, I also got my period last week, and am on birth control. Everything in my life is normal, nothing has changed other than my eating habits due to the nausea. The nausea comes all times of the day whether I have eaten or not. The doctor ran a bunch of blood test and they all came back normal. I do not have any other symptoms other than the nausea and would like some help/advice/opinions.

I would go see a Gastrointerologist. I had something like that going and my doctor thought it was my gallbladder. It wasn't but the symptoms were the same. He put me on Prilosec and I had to alter my diet. I'm fine now.

N., Could it be stress or your nerves? Maybe there is something bothering you deep inside. You said you are buying a house. That is stressful right there. Go away for the weekend somewhere and relaxe. See if that helps. Good Luck! Also Ginger ale is great for nausea. Give that a try.

If it continues, I would have your stool tested for parasites or e-coli, salmanella. Ask your physician how to go about doing this.

About 2 1/2 years ago, I was nausious like that for about 2 months. I STILL don't know what it was. My thyroid was acting up, but the blood test showed it was still within normal range. It was MISERABLE to not feel good ALL the time, but thankfully it went away after 2 months or so. I stopped taking the vitamins for a while just in case that had something to do with it because somebody mentioned it could be too much calcium or something and I was willing to try anything. Didn't make the nausia go away, but made me feel better to be trying something else as it didn't feel good to be taking them daily while nausious...resumed them a few months after that, so I don't think that was necessarily the problem. I was nursing at the time so thought maybe that had something to do with it, though it was in the middle of nursing my second son. I was 26 or maybe 27 at the time. Don't know that this would help any other than I went through the same kind of thing! Best wishes to you!! And I hope it turns out to be "nothing serious"!

Two things could be going on here.

You could have a version of the flu. I know I've now been sick for a month off and on with nausea and other flu-like symptoms, despite exercising daily and eating fairly healthy.

Are you wanting to be pregnant? Some women, because they so badly want to be pregnant, talk themselves into thinking they're pregnant which can manifest as the first trimester sickness feelings.

I don't want to scare you, but there is the slight possibility of something more serious. Definitely keep getting tested for more things - something is going on in your body. If your primary doctor is out of ideas, go to a GI doctor (gastroenterologist). I have some serious GI conditions and I know that nausea is a symptom, so make sure that you rule out something serious. Good luck!

Dear N.,
I'm sorry to hear abou this-it has to be so uncomfortable. Not sure if you would be interested, but more than 3 years ago I started using supplements from a company called Reliv International. I have no idea how this works, but somehow optimum nutrition with their products (powder combined with your choice of liquid like milk or water) seems to balance out the body. I'd really encourage you to check out
reliv.com
It is a multi level marketing company, I am a distributor but no longer sell. If you can get past the hipe, I think you would appreciate the products. To me, it beats going to a store and picking and choosing what kinds of vitamins to take. If you would like to talk with someone, please let me know. For me, I just feel overall wellness and am 57. Best to you.

Hi N.,

I haven't been reading my Mamasource emails lately but something made me read it today. I couldn't believe it when I read your heading regarding nausea. I've been experiencing nausea throughout the day since the end of August. I know I'm not pregnant. I went to my primary doctor and he ran blood work and everything came back normal except that I'm anemic. I waited to see if it would go away but hasn't. He sent me to a GI doctor and I just had a colonoscopy and a gastroscopy done on Wednesday. I'm waiting on the test results because I had an irritation in my stomach. You should definitely see a GI doctor. I hope you find answers as I am trying to do.

I would stop taking the birth control pills and give that a try, I often times felt pregnant with all the nausea they caused. The only pill that has not made me sick is Yaz, but I also have had spotting with those too. If that doesn't help you might want to go to a gastrointerologist to see if they can help.

Sounds just like the earlier symptoms my mom had. Eventually when she was projectile vomiting from even just a sip of water, they discovered she had intestinal blockage. Have you been checked for that? It's from stomach and intestinal x-rays they can diagnose that.

Good luck! I hope they find and solve the problem for you very soon.

Im not sure if this is going to help but im putting it out there anyway. I felt this same way just this month about 2 weeks before my period came (which came late) so i did think i was pregnant!! But Im not! anyway, My doctors told me during my pregnancy with my son that i may have endometriosis. which is when you have heavy cramping and bleeding. and you feel nausous and sometimes vomit. I have also gotten hot flashes and become very pale (faintish)and sometimes blackouts. If you are having some of these symptoms then i would at least just ask your doc. I have found that drinking lots of water will help and I have used painkillers. If you do have this then you should get it fixed right away....Speaking of which I should take my own advise. I think I make an appointment now.
