I'm wondering how people clean up the pee and poo during potty training "accidents?" I'm going to go cold-turkey with pull-ups on so I know that I'll be in for some accidents since both of my kids have to be dragged to the toilet while they're playing. My husband freaks out at any pee and poo, especially if it gets on something it's not supposed to, so what's the best way to clean it up? My hubby also insists that after cleaning up the area, it needs to be dried, for example, if pee is on the carpet, he soaks it up with a towel and then sets the fan on the spot to dry it up. so i was thining about getting some wet-dry vacuum. thanks for your help...

There is a great product called Nature's Miracle which is sold at Petsmart and Petco. It's made for pet accidents but it's great at getting out stains and odor. Also, if you don't mind me saying but this is my own personal opinion. If you have to drag your kids to the potty then they might not be completely ready. My daughter is 2 1/2 and is completely potty trained now but I didn't force it. When I thought she should be going on the potty I would try to coax her, force her, everything. But it wasn't until she decided she was ready that it happened. She went from not wanting anything to do with the potty one week to going completely on her own the next week. I used pull-ups during the process and it didn't confuse her at all. Thankfully, we had less accidents because I let her decide when she was ready. Sorry if I'm overstepping. Again, just my opinion. Have a great day and I hope the potty training gets better.

Try Hydrogen Peroxide. My midwife uses it religously to clean up after births. It works wonders. Pour a generous amount on the stain and let it sit for a minute, then use a sponge or towel to wipe it away.

I'm a grandma now so I don't have recent experience with potty training children. But I do with puppies and I highly recommend the Bissell Spotbot. It is an amazing little machine and you don't have to do anything but turn it on and walk away. It does all the work and beeps when it if finished.

I found the best price on Amazon.com

I am not exactly sure how to clean it up but I know how to make them not do it on the carpet. I did what you are doing and was constantly cleaning it up but one day mom came over and saw my son do it. When I began to clean it up she told me to stop. She told my son, who was 2 at the time, that since he made the mess on the carpet he needed to clean it up. She got him a towel and told him how to do it. He cleaned it up but said "Yuck" the entire time he had to clean it. I sprayed some stuff on the carpet after he was done and then cleaned it myself but after that he never did it again. I was in shock. The biggest problem we had after that was getting him to wear clothes because we stripped him down naked. Good luck with the potty training.
