How to Care for My Man Post Vasectomy?

Hey moms (and dads I hope!)
My husband is having a vasectomy on Wednesday and I am wondering how to help him after. I have heard the advice 'just have a bag of frozen peas around', is that true? Should I get some frozen peas/corn for him to use? I really don't know exactly what to have on hand for him as he heals. I am sure the doc will give him whatever meds he might need, but what can I do to be be ready to help him through the healing process? Thanks!

What can I do next?

My husband said the whole thing was easier than having his teeth cleaned. So unless he is a big baby, he should be fine.
I did have some peas for my hubby- a few bags. I made him lay on the couch for a day or so and he was good. He did go to work a few days after and pushed it a bit too hard, but all he said was that the area was sore... so really for him day 2-3 was the worst of it and even then he was fine. Never even took any pain killers.

My ex was up and moving the same day as his, so the "healing process" is not that big a deal these days. They use a procedure that doesn't even require a stitch, so the recovery is fast. The frozen veggies (ice) help things feel better and keep possible swelling down. He'll probably want/need to just sit around for a few hours or the rest of the day it's done. He shouldn't do any lifting or anything strenuous. His doctor will give him the specifics, I'm sure.

Make sure that he takes off for the recommended amount of time.

A few rotating bags of peas and resting for 1-2 days. Shouldn't be worse than that!

There really isn't much "taking care" after a vasectomy unless your husband is a big ol' baby. I had 3 bags of peas, they melt pretty quick, but take time to freeze back up so having 3 made for a good rotation and always having a bag ready to go.

He will sit around that day, but after that take some Advil and move on. It's really not that big of a deal.

MAKE HIM REST! He may 'feel' fine, but laying on the couch will work miracles.

After my husbands he was fine. Just a little sore. He said that he has had dental work worse than that. It was pretty easy for him. Did not need the bag of frozen peas! :)

Just have a couple of good gel cool packs (they stay cold longer). 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off.

He should stay off his feet for a day or two. Just give him a restful spot with all his favorite things and goodies for a couple of days.

Even if he feels great, he needs to stay off his feet. Too much activity in those first couple of days can cause swelling/edema and potentially permanent damage. The doctor will give him an instruction sheet...be sure to follow that to the letter.

And remember...even though he's "cut" there are still little swimmers in there for 30-40 ejaculations. So don't go "unprotected" until he's been FULLY tested and cleared.
