How Do You Find a Playgroup in the Area?

I have been searching trying to find a playgroup for my 17 month old daughter. She doesn't go to daycare, so she doens't get much exposure to other children and I need to find a way to change this. I want to try to find a playgroup, not really a mommy support group, if that makes sense.

What can I do next?

Hi S.,
Your daughter is almost the same age as my son-born 2/05! :)
I found a wonderful group on meetup.com There are several stay at home moms groups. They meet in people's houses, at parks, the zoo, etc. There are tons of events all over the Denver Metro Area. Usually they have several each week and we just choose some. My favorite meetup group has this address:
sahm.meetup.com/124/
Hope that helps!

S.,

One option is MOMs Club. Their international website is http://www.momsclub.org/welcome.html. Scroll to the bottom and there is a link to find a Club near you. They have activities for Moms, kids and families. Another site is http://www.mommyandme.com/. They have a listing of playgroups, etc. for the area. Another option is to take a class with your daughter. We have taken a signing playclass and have loved it. You can do that either through www.signingsmart.com, or the local recreation centers offer a variety of Mommy & Me classes (music, signing, etc.). Hope this helps.

Hi Kaylyn,
There are usually play groups with churches and they are called MOPS but if you are looking for someone to play with your daughter, My daughter Katelin is 19 months and just got a tea set we would love for you to come over and play and She has a twin brother named Khristian it seems so easy to find boy playmates for us but we haven't found any girls.

Hope to hear from you,
K.

What part of Denver are you in? I have a playgroup in SouthEast Denver (washpark area) but it's open to anyone. I have a daughter that is 18mos old and I agree, it's a good thing to get her acclimated to playing with other kids besides the fact that they love it! Also, there is a playgroup that meets in Observatory Park each Wednesday at 11am (Warren and Milwaukee close to Denver University). Let me know if it's close enough and if you want to come around for a playhour.

Hi S.,

If you are looking for something a little less formal, try the open play times at the Garrison Street Recreation Center. Several times a week they open the gymnasium up for kids under 4, and there are always a ton of kids your daughter's age running around. The floor is soft, the equipment is fun, and the moms are laid-back. Call or stop by for a schedule: 9101 Ralston Rd. Arvada, Colorado 80002 ###-###-####

Good luck!
