Has anyone been to Heritage Square recently? Is it something worth taking my two sons to (3 year and 1 year)? I am in search of things for my boys and I to do this summer that don't cost an arm and a leg, therefore I am open to suggestions!

I have gone to Heritage Square as long as I can remember and although it's not quite like it used to be it's still definitely worth the trip. The great thing is there is no admission to get in so basically you just pay for what you want to do. They have little rides for younger kids like the roller coaster, tea cups etc...and also paddle boats, bumper boats, go carts, and of course the Alpine slide! They also have a train that takes you around the entire park, a merry-go-round and possibly still the ferris wheel. They also have an arcade for the bigger kids (where you purchase tickets for all the rides). There are places to eat, cute stores to shop at, and an old time photo shop to get your pictures done! It's definitely a great place for the family to go and just far enough away from the city : ) Hope you decide to go and have a great time!

Hi A., I haven't been to Heritage Square lately but here are a few things that I like to do with my 3 and 1 year old boys.

1. Get a zoo family pass. $60 for the year for the whole family. We've gone about 20 times this year and the boys NEVER get bored.
2. Go to Flying J Ranch Park or Meyer Ranch park up in Conifer (both Jefferson County open space) and go for a "hike". No way to get lost and even my one year old can hike in about 1/3 mile and then hike out. They LOVE it!
3. Clement Park, Lions Park in Golden, there's a park up in Evergreen between Evergreen and Bergen Park right off of Hwy 73 that we go to alot.
4. On rainy days like this weekend, I take the boys to Jump Street at Bowles and Kipling - $4 per kid.

I haven't been there in a long time but I loved last summer taking my 1 year old to tiny town it is not that far and we brought a picnic and it didn't cost a lot. The other things I enjoyed with him was Belliview park and piarets cove. There is a lot around that isn't that expensive I like to check the local parents magizine for special things happening around town. Hav a great summer :)

We went last summer for the first time, and had a blast. Our son was 5 at the time. I thought it was a little pricey (about $20-25 for an all-day ride pass), but I liked that parents can ride free on all the kiddy rides with their kids. So, we only had to buy one all-day ride pass and my husband and I were able to go on the rides and play mini golf with our son. I don't know if it would be much fun for older kids, but my 5 year old loved it.

We also went to Lakeside Amusement Park last summer (Sheridan and 44th-ish). It was much cheaper (about $10 for an all-day ride pass) and they had about 15 different kiddy rides. My son had an equally good time there, and I felt like they had more variety in their rides.

We go every summer and LOVE it!! My now 4 year old talks about it all winter long! They have great kid rides and shows, from magic shows to off off off off off Broadway productions. Can't recommend enough!

If you have a Jeffco Library card(free to anyone in any county but you have to sign up at the library), they have all sorts of free tickets for things on their site...we've had Wildlife Experience tickets and Butterfly Pavilion.

Best general suggestion? Sign up for Mile High on the Cheap, a daily email with incredible suggestions that are free or good deals. We use it ALL the time.
