B.,
I have my little ones do their messy crafts in their dad's old t-shirt. It saves all the effort of getting stains out.

Hello everyone
This is my first time with a request but have been reading all the great suggestions for about a year now. I have a four year old son who is very into drawing, coloring tracing, etc. My problem is getting a dry erase marker off of shirt sleeves. I have tried Tide, Oxiclean and Shout Spray N Wash etc. Does anyone have any great ideas? Thanks B.

I have gotten laundry stains out with using Shout preset stain spray removal and then soaking it in oxiclean powder in warm water for a couple days. This has worked for mostly everything for me.

B.,
You didn't say what kind of fabric or color of shirt you son has marked on, but this is what I have done for stubborn stains. Take a bucket of hot water and add in about 1/2 cup of clorox color safe bleach and 1/2 automatic dishwashing detergent. Let the shirt soak over night. It doesn't fade the colors and tends to get out all stubborn stains. My son has a favorite blanket that he drags around every where and it tends to get very dirty. It is a very vibrant orange and blue with hand stitching on it and it has never faded the blanket but has always gotten out the dirt and what ever he has dragged it through. I have even used this to get out stubborn spit up stains.
Good luck!

I use a product called mean green. I usually buy it from Dollar General, but I've seen it at Wal-mart occasionally. Yesterday my husband had ink on his pants, I just sprayed it on and let it sit until I had the rest of the clothes loaded, then thru his pants in. No scrubbing and it came out. Make sure you use hot water with whatever stain remover you end up choosing. But Mean green (NOT SIMPLE GREEN) has been a great stain remover for me..oh it is not with the stain removers on the shelf, it is with the cleaners like 409, etc.
give the stains a shot of wd/40...works wonders...
Try Palmolive dish soap! And use alot on the stain. It might take a few times but all of our stains at our house come out!!!
Melalueca's Solumel works great on these things. I have taken marker off of pictures and it doesn't wrek the picture.
vinegar-most dry erase markers are vinegar based and the vinegar will dillute the ink.
Hi B.,
Two words... Fels Naptha.
It's a miracle in my laundry room. I haven't had to get out dry erase before, but give it a try. It has taken out several stains for me, including red crayon (from a whole load of wash)...my daughter seemed to get it into the washing machine.
Fels Naptha looks like a bar of soap. Actually an elderly lady I spoke to said that "back in the day" they used it for laundry soap by "shaving" pieces into the laundry bin. I myself, found out from a friend who got out many types of baby stains. It is way cheaper (about a buck for the bar- goes a long way) than shout, spray-n-wash, etc. I just wet the area to be treated, rub the bar on that area, then scrub and throw into the wash. Sometimes, when I'm not sure if it's enough.. I "shave" a sliver or two into the machine.
It's been a life saver in my house!
Good luck,

I've never tried dry erase marker, but I've had wonderful luck with a stain remover called NatureBright by Shaklee's Get Clean products. You have to order online or through a representative, but it seems to work wonders on everything I've tried (blood, grass stain, rust, mold, breastmilk, poop, etc. etc.). I'm not a Shaklee preacher or anything. I'm just a regular mom who highly recommends it. Bonus: You can also mix it with water in a spray bottle and use it as a carpet/furniture cleaner. Good luck with your tough stain and let us know if you find something that works!
I've found that Basic H from Shaklee works really well for all sorts of stains.
Thanks,

Hairspray works with ink and may be worth a try if nothing else works.
I havent had to deal with the dry earse markers but I do deal with oil grease ect... and the stuff that I have found to work is at fleet-farm. it is a hand cleaner called goop. yep it works on the most stubborn stains. give this a whirl and hope it works.
Sorry B., in my experience dry erase markers are pretty much the worst stain ever. I've had better luck removing Sharpie. If you find something that works, please let us know.
I use all (stainlifter) and spray n wash at the sametime.
Dry Erase markers don't come off of anything. There's been requests on here before I think they're kids got it on the wall or something. It's like playing with permanent markers.
I don't know about dry erase markers but liquid ERA is the best stain remover there is. I use it for evey kind of spot. Put it right on the stain and rub, then wash as usual. If your stain has been washed and DRIED it may be set.
I love charlies soap. You can get it at www.charliesoap.com

You may want to use a smock when your child is coloring or roll up his sleeves. Dry Erase Markers are very hard to get out of clothing. You may want to switch over to washable markers or ones that wash out easily. This is probably easier than stressing out getting dry erase markers out of his clothing.
try soaking with hairspray. I know it works for pen mark dont know if it will work with dry erase but you could always give it a shot. Let us know if you try it and if it works, I have a daughter that is just getting into the dry erase markers so I'm sure the information will be very helpful. Good luck with that.
