Grr!! I have ruined many shirts because of grease stains - yes I know I should wear an apron but it just doesn't happen...I cook alot and get tiny little grease stains on clothes. I am so tired of buying new things and throwing out shirts! I have 4 tshirts I just got out of the laundry and they all have grease stains on them. Note, they have all already been washed and dried? Anyone have a really good solution? Besides for me to learn my lesson!

Thank you!!!

What can I do next?

Pbbbt...don't bother with "shout."

Fels Naptha laundry bar. You can find it in the laundry aisle at Walmart for about .99 cents.

Wet the fabric a little and then rub the bar on the spot. Toss in the laundry as usual.

I think it may have been Christy Lee that recommended Fels-Naptha on a different post- I tried this based on a post I read on Mamapedia AND IT REALLY WORKS!!!

Who knew? .99 cents and this bar is amazing!

My husband had a sports shirt that was white and was fading to grey. I took this bar and lathered up his shirt with it, threw it in the wash and it is sparkling white now!

My son had stains on a favorite shirt. Again, I rubbed a little on the spot and it is gone!

Thanks, Christy Lee for the recommendation. My laundry room will always have a bar of Fels-Naptha in it! Seriously, give it a try!

For set-in stains, a baking soda and water paste will help reduce it, and sometimes take care of it completely. Put the paste on and let it sit for a day. Wash, then air dry. Repeat as needed. I've rescued several shirts this way! I too should wear an apron :)

Dish soap applied directly to a fresh oil stain can help lift the stain when you wash it.

Unfortunately, I don't have a solution for your already washed and dried clothing, those stains are probably already set in.

Not sure bout my mother swears by Dawn Dish Soap--the original BLUE kind.
And my Italian grandmother was a big fan of Lestoil for laundry grease.
My German grandmother swore by Fels Naptha bar soap.

Good luck!

I like Shout but ONLY the Shout gel. I can get any grease stain out even after it's been washed and dried in with the gel. The other versions of Shout never worked for me...

I also use Dawn and it works pretty well. I have used it on already washed and dried shirts and it sort of works, but not all the way. But if you do it right away to a fresh stain it usually does a good job! I would apply it directly and liberally to the stain and then I usually spray some other stain remover on top of it and let it soak for at least a day. After you wash it take it out and make sure you inspect it to see if it got it out. If it didn't then do it again before drying and that will usually either clear it up or it's a lost cause! ;)

Believe it or not, WD40 and Dawn or Joy. My husband came home from work with grease stains, and the combo worked.

Cheap solution -- put baby powder on the grease stain and let it absorb the grease, scrape it off, and put on another coat of baby powder. Scrape it off and wash. That always gets them out. Carbona also makes a grease removal product that's good.

Baking soda and whatever dish detergent you use (Dawn, Joy, Sunlight, etc). Make a paste and rub it in. Leave overnight, then wash. Good luck!

SHOUT It works even after it's been dried. Just spray it, and let it sit until the next time you want to wash it.

I got an olive oil stain out , washed and dried, with a pre-treat spray from Melaleuca. Can't remember what it's called becaue I ran out a while back and haven't ordered more, but it only took one time of spraying on both front and back of the stain.

Straight up Dawn dish soap. I have used it when the stains are fresh and set in already. I put some on and let it sit, sometimes up to a week. I make sure to use an extra rinse cycle to get all the soap out. It may take a second application but they have always come out.

You have gotten some good answers so far all of those items work. But I will add **shampoo** works also. Put some shampoo on greese stains and they will come out.

It's a good way to use up shampoo you don't like for your hair.

Put baby powder on the spot to absorb the grease and then wash it! That worked for me! My girlfriend told me to use shampoo to get it out! That works for her! Her logic is shampoo takes grease out of your hair, so it works on clothes as well! Haven't tried that yet, but let me know!

I love Fels-Naptha! I keep it in a baggie under my bathroom sink. When I get a stain I rub it on, let it sit a bit, wash it off then add more. Then wash in the machine.
It always works! I buy it at Pathmark on Long Island.
