I've done it again. Despite my best efforts of going through the clothes before putting in the washer and dryer an ink pen made it through both yesterday. I have ink all over my dryer and clothes. Is there any help for me?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Okay so before writing this I soaked the clothes in oxy clean. It seemed to get a lot of the stains out. What I did was throw some clothes into the washer and sprinkled a layer of oxy clean then more clothes and then more oxy clean. I am soaking them again just to see if any more stains ocme out. I also just finished rubbing toothpaste on the ink stains in the dryer. I threw in a few old towels and turned on the dryer. Prayerfully it will help. I will let you know.

I don't know what to tell you about your dryer, but back in my teen years I was known to WRITE all over my jeans. I would simply spray them with a nice dose of hairspray, wash, and it always came out. Once or twice it took two dosings, but I wrote on a lot of jeans. So hope that'll help.

Good Morning R., I think the Mr. Clean eraser will remove it from the dryer. On the cloths I used to use Hair spray...lol For some reason it would break it down and I would be able to add a little laundry soap and scrub it out.

There are probably better solutions and I hope you get the one you need.

I've always used hair spray on clothes...Aqua Net to be specific!
then throw them in the washer with detergent and it came out.
I'm not sure how to get it out of the washer and dryer.

I always use hairspray to get ink out of clothes and it works like a charm. As far as the dryer, I'm not sure. Good luck!

I don't have any advice about how to get it out, but wanted to tell you not to be too hard on yourself - when you are responsible for checking all the clothes by yourself, it's hard to catch everything. Our daughter is still too little to have anything in her pockets, but my husband (who I love dearly, but I've repeatedly asked him to empty his pockets) inevitably leaves pens, tissues, etc. in his pockets, so I try to check them all, but sometimes something gets missed. Hang in there!

My husband never checked his pockets. He would leave pens, screws, ammo. So when he did his laundry, he left an ink pen, and it was all over. Before you run the dryer again use hair spay and cold water. It might take a few trys. Then again mine was never quite clean. But no ink was on my clothes after that first time. On the clothes also try the hairspay and cold water. You might have to do it again and again. Hope it works.

I'm answering this because I ran across something about 2
weeks ago and if I hadn't seen it work myself I would have
never believed it. my son got ahold of a red Sharpie and
marked up a pair of lt. blue cotton pajamas with it. I
stumbled across this recipe on a website called tipnut.com
and it WORKED. it left NONE of the marker stain behind.
for your problem you'll obviously have to increase the recipe.
1 Tablespoon vinegar
1 Tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon Borax (found in laundry section-usually top shelf)
1 teaspoon lemon juice.
mix this stuff together and put it on the stain. leave for
about 10 minutes and blot. if needed, repeat steps and then
launder as usual. it really works.
I don't know about the inside of your dryer, but it's worth
a shot.

I seen on the site about.com fantastic site for different natural ways to get stains out an also for cleaning with all natural products. They suggested a baking soda paste or even the oxiclean stain remover. Look on their site they might have even more suggestions to try.Best of luck D.

Denatured or rubbing alcohol works to get the ink out of fabric and hard surfaces. That is why hairspray works so well, all the alcohol in it.
