Does anyone have any resources for a friend of mine? She wants to leave her husband who is a drunk and is physically abusing her. She has 3 teenage children and lives near Joliet. I want to give her as much information as possible about where she can go to get some help ASAP!

She should contact the local domestic violence shelter in her county. I volunteer with the DuPage County shelter (Family Shelter Service) and I know they would gladly help her. The number is ###-###-#### (It's a 24hr hotline). Any shelter can help her develop a plan to keep her safe and to help her get out. She will also need help of good friends (like you) and family to help with her kids. Good luck to her!

Mutual Ground in Aurora is particularly good at helping abused women. It is their specialty. I am pretty sure if you search them on the web you will get their website. I honestly think they are one of the most reputable places offering these kind of services. It is mutualgroundinc.com and the hotline is ###-###-#### for domestic violence. I really hope that they can help your friend. I know that getting out of a bad situation can be hard and dangerous. I will and have prayed for them.
