Three years ago when my first son was a drooler I read in some book that many people mistakenly say drooling is because of teething. Instead, the doctor in this book said that drooling begins around 3 to 4 months and can continue into the 2nd year to prepare the child for speech. It prepares the child by making them use muscles to move the excess saliva around, these muscles they are using to move the saliva around will be the muscles they need to use to form sounds and words later on.
Have a great day!
