My son gets the High Five magazine, which he (5.5yrs) and his sister (2.9yrs) love. We just rec'd the National Geographic Kids magazine as a gift and it was not so interesting for them, in my opinion.
What's a great magazine for a 5yr old girl? She gets a Lego magazine once in awhile and loves the comic inside (she's tomboyish). I've thougth about getting her National Geographic Kids or Highlights (man, that one is expensive!).
Any your kids get that they love?

Mine do like both of those - National Geographic Kids and Highlights. Sometimes you can find special offers on these, even just through Google.
Totally Highlights! Anything he can't quite read yet, you can read to him!
:)
DD gets Wild Animal Baby but I'm trying to remember the next step...Big Backyard?
I think Highlights has a High Five magazine just for younger kids.
High Five is the magazine Highlights prints for the ages of 2-6. Highlights is supposed to be 6-12. I haven't seen the others mentioned...I will have to check the library. Thanks for asking this! I will check back and see the other mamas suggestions. :o)
ladybug is a great magazine and disney has a good one also.
My four kids have all loved Highlights (high five when they were younger and regular Highlights once they hit about 6).
My daughter is also tomboyish. She loves ZooBooks.
My kids love the kids National Geographic...3 yrs and almost 6yrs
my kids get highlights through their school, it's not expensive at all.
We used to get Highlights, and I really liked it. We also got Nat. Geo. Kids for a year or two.
I like Ladybug. Our librarian recommended it.
Besides High Five and Highlights (my daughter gets both) - Zoo books and Ranger Rick (if it's still around) are great too.
Highlights High Five says it's up to six, but really, it's targeted more for little kids, in my opinion. My daughter outgrew that one at four. We get Highlights, which is fun, and National Geo Kids is terrible, in my opinion, but a lot of children might really like it....my daughter likes regular Nat. Geo better, but we're stuck with a two year subscription.
I would go to your library and look at all the kids mags to see what you like. We get one called "Ask" that we really like!
I'm a huge fan of National Geographic Kids. I know they now have an issue for little kids.
my kids have gotten as preschooler and K/1st graders - Your Big Backyard, Nat. Geo. for Kids, and Turtle magazines.
As she gets older you might look at Hopscotch for Girls. Its ad free but a tad expensive. I liked it because it had a variety of things my girl could do. usually always at least one story, one craft and some sort of "quiz" to do.
Hope you find something she likes!
