Hi everyone!
I'm thinking of getting my 6, almost 7, year old daughter a magazine subscription for Christmas and am wondering if any of you are subscribing (or have subscribed) to any you would recommend.
Thanks so much to everyone who responded to my question. I think I've narrowed it down to about 3 possiblities. I really appreciate you guys taking the time to help me out! :)

My 7 year old son loves ASK. It is a science magazine that answers the crazy questions most kids have floating around their heads. If she is an advanced reader, then this magazine should be just a bit of a challenge, but also fun to read.

My kids, son age 7 and daughter age 5, enjoy National Geographic for kids. It has lots of info on animals, the environment, science, volcanoes, little history stories about inventions, etc. I think it is great!!!!!!! They think it is so cool to have there own magazine in the mail and I know they are reading something that is mostly educational.

National Geographic for Kids was one that my kids loved at that age. My son is now 8 and my youngest daughter who is 11 still love the magazines. They loved receiving it each month in the mail, not only for the pictures put for the articles that are in kid friendly language.

Highlights is always a good one. Fun too.
Or Kids Discover. Very interesting with a wide variety of subjects too that she'll learn about in school. I'm 55 and I love reading these. History, biology, all sorts of subject matter that would be a fantastic resource for information later.

S.; yes if she likes webkinz or ty animals the magazine plushie pals, is great, you can go to the website and of plushie pals and usually get a free sample and then they come out every other month so there is 6 for a year, they are cute magazines, gives you hints and shows you all the animals, of them and and its colorful and kid appropriate, you can even send in stuff and have your stuff published, so its cool, have a good day, D. s

All of the previous mags are fabulous, but I must agree that National Geo for Kids and Ranger Rick are some of the best. I remember reading Ranger Rick for years! I also remember reading Jack and Jill!
We enjoy Disney & Me or Disney magazines. However, I also like to get mags that fall into my son's interest, too~
We also read Time for Kids online (to practice being 'green')

Hi Sarah,
Highlights magazine would make a great magazine subscription. It is educational and has a lot of interesting stuff in it. Here is the link if you are interested in finding out more....
My daughters are 5 and 10, then get National Wildlife magazines with different animals in them. They have 3 different age groups (we really get all 3 of them for the younger kids as well) but one is for little kids 1-4 (I think) then there is a Big Backyard one for 5-7? and there is another one for older kids. You can go to their website and look at the different ones. They have been getting them for over 2 years and they love them. They learn about different aniamls, and cut out pictures in them as well.
There is also another one that they use to get, Highlights, they have different age groups as well. They have lost of differnt activties you can do as well as stories to read.

Hi S.. I have a great Magazine but its for ages 8-12 but my daughter started reading them with an older cousin when she was about your daughters age. It's "American Girl" Magazine. My daughter is almost 16 now and still loves the good ol' days of reading them and also enjoys reading them with her younger cousin. :D They are filled with all fun things that are for girls and keeps them just being a girl. That is the part I love. No rush in growning up too fast with this magazine. just fun filled crafts, party plans, advice, quizzes and worry- free!
Here is the website: www.americangirlmagazine.com
If you decide to choose this magazine, I hope your daughter enjoys them as much as my daughter has over the years. Good luck in your search.
Happy to share,
A. B.
P.S. My daughter still keeps all her past issues. :)

This is a series of magazines that grow with your kids. You can just google either Lady Bug Magazine or Cricket Magazine or www.cricketmag.com hope you find a great magazine. K.
